Goddam. I love that scene. It's one of the few times Brother is legitimately funny. Buddy's additional comment of "whoa! Such passion!" also helped.

Still..I haven't played X-2 in a while. It's like Surging, Flapping, Neighboring Gullwings. Or is it flying.... And then

Yeah, you got it, The Anti. "Surging, Flapping, Neighboring Gullwings" it is.

    Sweet.

I guess I'll just stick with a simple one. Name all of Shyin's overdrives and which overdrives of Tidus' they correspond to.

Sorry if it's not that hard.

Well, I've been playing the game recently (X-2), so I actually saw them in action, but since nobody else is answering (and I didn't look up the Tidus correspondents)...

Terror of Zanarkand - Blitz Ace
    Spiral Cut - Spin Cut
Hit and Run - Slice and Dice
    Force Rain - Energy Rain

Indeed you are correct. It's kind of sad they only really gave Blitz Ace a new name. A good name though.

So if you want to go, feel free.

Heh, that's kind of funny because Terror of Zanarkand is the only one I remembered.

    Thanks Neg for the banner!!

Okay... what Garment Grid allows your characters to use Ultima magic and how do you obtain it?

LOL, sorry, but Dark Knight is a dressphere, not a Garment Grid.

Oh, sorry, never noticed this question.

Hmm, is it Mercurial Strike from defeating Angra Mainyuu?

If that's not it I have just one other guess.

And... lol I'm pretty sure it's NOT Vanguard, that's like... the first one you get.

I also have a question (not a trivia question, just one out of curiosity that I wonder if Agent or anyone knows): Is Ultima registered as a Black Magic or Arcana?

No, Zak, it's not the Mercurial Strike. Try your other guess. And Ultima's a Black Magic.

    Okay is it Megiddo?

That being the one you get after taking all the paths to the Farplane through each hole?

Okay. This one might be too hard or too easy... but here.

If you do 100% in one run, what's the minimum amount of Garment Grids you can be missing in the end?

EDIT: After doing a little research, the answer is actually different than what I initially thought. But I'm still going with this question.

I can say with absolute authority it's definitely not 1. I suspect it's probably higher than anything that's been said so far.

All I'm gonna say is that it's not 1.

Also, I'd like to see some guesses based on things rather than throwing out random numbers, if possible.

Yeah, I was just about to say that this sort of thing can get kind of silly because of people just throwing out random numbers. So let's stop doing that and start doing some actual thinking by approaching the problem methodically. Now all completion percentage is based on spoken dialogue, though not all spoken dialogue gives you completion percentage. So to start with, any Garment Grids that are just sitting around in chests don't have anything to do with completion percentage. So let's see here...

Thunderspawn - sitting in a chest in Luca
Treasure chest at Youth League base - don't know which, but I'm pretty sure it has a Garment Grid
Treasure chest in area with odd camera angle in Bevelle Underground

That's three. There are two Garment Grids you can buy as prizes in the Calm Lands if you reach Level 5 for the two agencies there. Although you need Level 5 for one of the agencies in order to get Calm Lands Episode Complete, you certainly don't have to purchase either Garment Grid. That makes 5.

There are two Garment Grids you can win as random prizes battling either the lady with the dog or Shinra at Sphere Break-- White Signet and Treasure Hunt. That's 7.

Shinra gives you Vanguard for viewing the Garment Grid tutorial and The End for Oversouling every fiend. That makes 9.

I'm about 95% sure that there are at least two Garment Grids (and about 90% sure that it's exactly two) that can only be obtained if you gave the Awesome Sphere to New Yevon (think one of them is Blood of the Beast) and since you can't get 100% completion in one playthrough if you do that, that makes 11.

The Tricks of the Trade Garment is obtained by scoring a win against Frailea in the Cact-War mini-game. That makes 12.

As we all should know, you obtain Megiddo by jumping into every one of the holes in the Chambers of the Fayth and making it to the end of the path for each one. That makes 13.

Ooh, almost forgot about this. There are two Garment Grids that you obtain by sending a chocobo out with Heart less than 100 and then if it doesn't find any treasure, you might randomly get a Garment Grid instead. One of them is Mounted Assault and the other is Strength of One. That's 15.

Now, let's see... there's a Garment Grid that you obtain from Lian and Ayde's Guado friend in the secret house and one that you can get from Lian and Ayde themselves, but I'm pretty sure neither is required for completion percentage, even though I'm pretty sure Lian and Ayde have some spoken dialogue that goes along with theirs. So I'm going to say that's 17.

You obtain the Samurai's Honor Garment Grid at the Travel Agency in the Thunder Plains for attempting to calibrate all of the Lightning Rod Towers and perfectly calibrating at least five of them. But you don't need to do that for completion, so that's 18.

IIRC, the treasure chest in the secret area that you can only visit by unlocking the second lock by finding the numbers using the Search Spheres in Besaid also contains a Garment Grid. So that's 19.

You obtain a Garment Grid for finding all 13 monkeys in Kilika Forest and talking to the woman back in town. That's 20.

You obtain a Garment Grid by giving all the correct passwords during the Kilika mission at the end of Chapter 1, but I'm pretty sure the soldiers all talk to you using textboxes, so that's 21.

Pretty sure you get a Garment Grid (Font of Power) for clearing out the fiend colony at the Mi'ihen Highroad, but this dungeon isn't needed for completion percentage. 22.

You obtain a Garment Grid by talking the Macalania Woods's youth "alarming friend" in Chapter 3. That makes 23.

Hmm... trying to think if there's anything else, but I'm coming up empty. So that's my guess, 23.

(Oh, and BTW - "this might too easy"? LOL. Only someone intimately familiar with the game could get this, unless they were using a guide. And, yeah, this post is pretty lengthy, but you said to think about it, so I did.)

Heh... now I understand your guesses. Nice thought pattern, but let's look at the question again.

If you do 100% in one run, what's the minimum amount of Garment Grids you can be missing in the end?

I asked what the minimum is to be MISSING. As in, how many exist in the game that you'd be forced to miss if you were to do 100%. Like, if you could do 100% in one run and be able to obtain every existing GG in the process, the answer would be 0. But I'll tell you, you won't be able to do that.

And yes I do think that might be easy, as I'm sure you can understand, or at least a lot easier than what you misread the question as. I liked your thought process though... heh.

Your answer would either replace "minimum" with "maximum" OR "missing" with "obtained".
