Is anyone keeping up with Doctor Who? I was really liking the new episodes, but lately it seems that the writers of the show are taking idea right off tumblr and fandom blogs. Is anyone else getting this vibe? I'm not sure I like it. It was already cheesy to begin with, but I fear it's getting a bit fan-servicey now.

I've been re-watching all my DVDs in alphabetical order and I'm just finishing up the "C"s and I have to admit the huge expanse of Doctor Who that lies ahead is fairly daunting (has anyone ever added up the total number of hours?) It will be interesting to see how the old ones hold up compared to my memory of them. I am looking forward to re-watching Tom Baker though. It's been ages.

Looking forward to the Cybermen returning in April, hopefully not in the same manner as the toy Daleks from Series 6.

It has always, to some extent pandered to its fans and their wants and needs, I dont think it is a bad thing providing it doesn't become mired in its own history, indeed many of the new series production crew and writers are long term dedicated fans of the original series.

Agreed. All shows have to some extend serve their fanbase, otherwise how would they continue?

Though I have liked some of them, I would like to see a alien non-female companion.

Depends...are we talking audio dramas and comics?

Because I think the 8th and 10 Doctor both had alien, female, companions.

Yes Eight travelled with Charley and C'rizz for a while in the audios. The first one was human (and female), the second was a Eutermisan (?) and male. I'm sure he had other non-female alien companions.
Ten travelled with a green looking lady whose name now escapes me in the DWM comics.

But the other Doctors had non-female alien companions too, on television. Turlough wasn't from Earth if I remember correctly, and neither was Adric. And if alien counts for robots then Kamelion and K-9 fit the description too :P

I agree though that it would be a nice thing to repeat!

What a bunch of dumptrucks showed up in the DOCTOR WHO AUDIO DRAMA THREAD

We should only have one rule and it starts now.
Rule #1. Post a link to share a Doctor Who Audio Drama, then say what you like.
Corollary. If you don't share, shut up or say Thank You.

Dumptruck is a euphemism. I was thinking of a term much more creatively unpleasant.

LOL. I apologize to the the mods for any misconstrued interpretations.
Once again proving, "[Hidden link. Register to see links.]" Or maybe was a [Hidden link. Register to see links.]?

Got some sad news for you Burnie... the admins over at Bolt have deleted both Doctor Who clubs, and all the threads/postings.... quoting lack of postings...strangely they still kept sending "give us money" PM's

If this is to be the new site, should we send some PM's about, and invite, the others we want here?, or do we want a new thread all together?

I just typed Doctor Who into the search and here came up. I found this easy enough. But there is always the "Other Place".

Here works for me, if nobody objects,
and no-one else wants the thread - it can be the new 'Discussion thread, and we can decide 1 or 2 sites for d/l, with RWQ....
Those not invited don't get into d/l sites.....
If we spread the word around, the last 4 pages of ffs audio drama can be forgotten....

    Thumbs up

What we have to do is help each other. And stop with the flaming critiques. Everybody has a bad day. Ignore those posts from people sharing a bad day. Move on and help spread the Doctor Who goodness. Give a hand to the polite, but needy.

RE: bad day/week/month...(time travelers may experience longer down time). Shucks, Doctor Who had some bad regenerations, too. (ie: the War Doctor, ect.).

Maybe what we need to start is a new site for flaming Doctor Who. A place where you don't need to be polite. A place where the grumpy can vent, hammer, slam, critique and generally just kiss kick some random butt! ie; [Hidden link. Register to see links.]

How would an invite work? If here is freely available but the d/l thread is closed except to invites then what happens when you don't invite someone? Here becomes a war zone again. In particular I'm thinking that the so far unjustified "clique" allegation becomes more relevant.
