The really weird thing about me is that all Anime I have watched is sad at the end when the anime itself has ended. I think it is because I wont see what happens afterwards... But A really sad Anime I think is really saddening (enough to make me cry a bit lol) was Grave of the Fire Flies. (Ghibli Studios). That one was really sad...

When Areis. . .oops, wait, anime.

I know Avatar: Last Airbender isn't exactly 'anime', but the there is one episode called "Tales of Ba Sae Sing", where Uncle Ihoh is remembering his dead son at the end. After the story is over, a still screen is shown dedicating the episode to Mako who had died and was the voice for Ihoh.

Anime without any closure at its final ending always makes me cry.(and pisses me off at the same time)

    hmm... sad.
*SPOILER* [Despite the fact that almost everyone here already spoiled this]

FMA: When Maes Hughes gets shot by Envy impersonating his own wife, when Greed dies, and when Scar dies.
All of the other things that I can think of (From FMA) are just straight-up depressing or even frustrating (The explanation of how problems in the real [our] world provide the energy for all the alchemy in the other world; The fact that in the movie, Maes Hughes' double is a nazi, Roy Mustang's alternate self is potentially freaking Hitler, and all of the cool homunculi die/get seriously maimed before Gluttony manages to die; that Ed manages to die roughly three times in a single episode (appropriately titled "Death"); and how Marda [Marta?] gets killed by Pride [not the fact that she manages to go nowhere with her plans of revenge, just the fact that she gets cut, in HALF, while hiding inside of Al])

Eureka 7: I found Ray's death to be a bit more sad (and only a little more sadistic) than Charles'. Also, the propaganda speech regarding the whole Coralian issue (the episode aired on Adult Swim about 4 days ago) was pretty f***ed up.

Don't be ignant. He died in a conspiracy to take over the South! His car was taken over, someone who was driving for that long would have never crashed like that! THINK about it!

I've never actually cried at a movie before, closest I came to crying was when you-know-who dies in Farscape: Peacekeeper Wars.

Yes. You're a cunt being a cunt in response to another cunt's cuntery. Lay off or I'll have to make with the arbitrary post deletions.

    Arc the Lad when...

    SPOILERS!
    SPOILERS!
    SPOILERS!
    BIG-TIME SPOILERS!!

...he finds his old friend, and vomits when he sees that the used her as a Chimera machine, where the bottom half of her body is nothing but this huge horiffic...thing. That alone was sad enough, but then he actually gets her out and, after hugging her, strangles her to death to put her out of her misery. HOLY CRAP. That made me tear up big time. Geez, just thinking about it...damn.

I think the movie "Grave of the Firelies" is probably the saddest anime I have ever seen. i cried so much at the end. I won't spoil anything, but if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. And bring a box of Kleenx with you.

For the record, we're talking about JAPANESE animation.
And can you stop being so rude, I find it really offensive. Are you homophobic or something?

    Figure 17

    *SPOILER*

Sho dies, and Tsubasa grieves for him. At the end Hikaru dies falling apart into particles of light as she transforms from figure to human, and only Tsubasa is allowed to remember her. It made me depressed, and I still am depressed over the ending and that's life.
