    Mine would go like this:

    1: Super Metroid
2: Castlevania Symphony of the Night
    3: Shenmue (1-2)
    4: Metroid Prime
    5: Super Mario Bros 3
    6: Final Fantasy VI
    7: Final Fantasy XII
    8: Zelda Wind Waker
    9: Dragon Quest VIII
    10: Sonic 3 and Knuckle

keep in mind, that this list may not really be accurate since these are only the first that came to my mind. Games like Crono Thrigger, FFIV-VII-VIII and IX, Skies of Arcadia, Suikoden 1, Grandia, Secret of Mana, Seiken densetsu 3, Super Mario World, Gradius 5, Metal Gear Solid 1 and 3, Resident Evil 1 (Cube version), Zelda a Link to the Past, Soul Caliber, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Killer Instinct 1, Metropolis Street Racer and Resident Evil 4 could all have a place somewhere on that list.

Not really, you have four Square RPG's on there. They aren't exactly busting with variety :P

    1.Armed Assault (PC)
That's very impulsive to put it at number one after all the bad things I've heard about it. I haven't actually played it myself, is it worth giving it a go, and are the bugs really all that bad?

Ghost of Freedom: Because Prak has his closed view on this subject, and in order for him to understand, you should say : "Pokemon is a character level building game with a story and quests to complete".

A RPG is a ROLE playing game. Such games are almost exclusively played with books like Rolemaster, WarHammer Fantasy Roleplay and Dungeons & Dragons. These games are open ended and gives you complete freedom over you character's growth and development.

Not many video games really puts you on the Role of a character, most of them are overly scripted and fit more into the Adventure or Action-Adventure genres.

Pokemon is a lot closer to an RPG than most other pseudo-RPGs, IMO.

Yeah, I know all this but its as much of an RPG as most other games that are labeled as such. Also RPG is short, character level building game with a story and quests to complete, or whatever people would have me call it, isn't.

A lot of games are called RPGs, they shouldn't be, but they are. I don't think thats gonna change, so I don't bother trying to change it.

Anyways, my point was that pokemon and final fantasy are quite similar (or at least not vastly different, like GuadoGirl_X would have you believe).

If you know they shouldn't be called that, but you don't try to change it, you're just as guilty as the people who perverted its meaning in the first place. I have nothing more to say on the matter, at least in context of this thread.

I'm with you there. But try to explain all this to Prak. He keeps on repeating the same things everytime someone calls a game a RPG.

Agreed. My favourite arcade game, hence why it deserves a mention on my top 10 list

    Right. In no particular order...

    1) Halo.
I didn't like the sequel that much, but the first one was for the most part absolutely excellent. It really gave you a feeling of being involved in a desperate war on an alien world. Great sci-fi horror and good direction.

    2) Final Fantasy VII.
The most complete game of the series in my opinion. Final Fantasy 8's first two discs get a honorary mention.

    3) Super Mario World (the SNES one).
I was a huge 2D platform game fan, and this was the best I ever played. I can't take to these 3D versions of Mario and Sonic though...

    4) Street Fighter 2.
The greatest arcade game ever became the greatest two player console game ever. Before I die, I want to play SF2 on a cinema screen.

    5) Flashback.
A different kind of platform game to Mario, but another of my all time favourite games, even in a list of favourites.

    6) Resident Evil, Code: Veronica.
Warped and twisted in all the right ways. This took the horror of RE1 and mixed in magical fantasy to make a wonderfully mad experience.

    7) Zelda: Ocarina of time.
One of the only truly sucessful 3D adventure platformers. A big game and a big time experience.

    8) Metroid Prime.
A game that never stopped giving. From the great rolling ball mode to the sense of scale and exploration, the sight of your eyes in the glare on the visor... it was one of the great experiences of recent times.

    9) Goldeneye 007.
The best licensed game ever? Certainly one of the true greats both in terms of single player game and multiplayer. Words can't describe how much entertainment this game gave me and my mates.

    10) Total Annihilation.
Quite simply *the* greatest RTS game of all time. Millions of units on the screen at once, huge battles, little need to worry about resources... great stuff.

There's always things that don't quite make the cut. KOTOR 2 (I know it was rushed, but until the end the story and characters were connecting with me far more than KOTOR 1), TIE Fighter, Forbidden Siren 1+2, Sim City, Silent Hill 2, the list goes on.
