After seeing the video, I don't feel the need to do this new sidequest. It seems a lot like the "answer the question wrong 64 times," which I admittedly did do...curiosity got the better of me. But I feel like this new sidequest is more tedious and as lacking in the reward category. I'm satisfied with seeing the video, but I do hope more sidequests pop up, that would be awesome!
I commend your courage, but I'll show you no mercy.

Well, Protect Ring is hard to come by, strictly limited and one of the best add-on's in the game... But yeah I am not planning to discard my perfect game save because of it, either... Nor Excalibur II save.

This could also be a massive hoax. Remember the one around the time of the game about selling 20 of Zidane's best weapon to the weapon shop in Dali, in order to unlock the FF7 Buster Sword?

I wish I knew this was a "secret". My friend showed me this in 2004.

I heard about this just as I was starting up a new playthrough of FFIX so decided to give it a go. I can only describe it as horribly tedious, having gone through the same screens in Memoria so many times, all I can say is if only there was a character's ability that charged up for every Iron Man you killed. A good few hours go into getting this.
