You sound like me, Tifagirl. Anime has been an obsession of mine ever since it was in its infancy here in the U.S. At my last (approximate) count, I've seen over 250 anime series/movies.

My favorite character is probably Tochiro Ooyama.

Well Tifagirl, just devote 8 years and about $30,000 to it and you'll be nearly as pathetic as I am.

Yes I am !! And ya know the funny thing, I'm proud of it!! I don't even how much money I've spent on it, but at least $10,000. I may not have as much tapes as you, but as much as I LOVE figures, my anime collection consists of hundreds of figures! I LOVE anime ssoooooo much, my collection could barely fit in my room!! Ahh, I'm so proud to be an anime fan!! It has already been eight years of anime fandom now; I started in 1996.

Who said I'm not proud of it?? I just said that I'm pathetic, not that I regret it.

I actually have so much anime here that I've had to co-locate it. And both locations are full to bursting again. I mostly buy region 0 imports these days, so I don't spend as much, but I also get more. For example, I recently got the first season of Initial D (all 26 episodes) for the same price as ONE of the domestic Toyopop DVDs. It has better translated subs too.

If you like subtitled anime, check out [Hidden link. Register to see links.].

I find it sad that so many people only experience anime through cartoon network, resulting in them having no idea what really good anime is.

Cartoon Network, Ha! I know what good anime is when I see it! I go beyond my research through anime. Start out at Suncoast Motion picture company. They have a great anime selection even thoughs that havn't been released in America.

I just thought it ought to be said.

Suncoast is a good source for people starting out. Lots of good stuff and the people there usually know what's best, in my experience.
