The server for the country I live in was overloaded or something and asked for an unlock password. It's okay now though.

Urg! Billion Uploads downloads an exe file that requires you to be an administrator to open. I guess I won't be able to download these. At least until my dad ungrounds me (don't ask) from being an admin, that is.

It does bring me to a download page (one with the sketched green arrow), but clicking on THAT gives me the never-ending load.

Question about the Sonic CD download:

Does it have the full length version of the Japanese boss theme? In the OST I got, it cuts off near the end, which wounds me.

I'm not sure what you mean. The version in my complete soundtrack is a direct rip from the official soundtrack.

Question about the Ultimate MvC rips. I downloaded them in flac to replace the mp3 version I had of yours (which was encoded with LAME 3.98, which doesn't allow frequencies to reach over 40khz from the left/right channels combined) and spectrals for the flacs look a bit spotty. Were the game audio files lossless/48khz? Few reach the 48khz range but a lot of them are cut off at the 44100 range and some of them (trailers, opening movie, and some others) are definitely lossy-to-lossless conversions and are only 32khz yet upsampled to 48khz. It's sort of a headscratcher seeing the inconsistency of the quality in all the files, when expecting lossless.

EDIT: Sonic 3D Blast's flacs are DEFINITELY not lossless. It looks as if mp3s (probably at 192kbps or lower) were edited and then converted to flac, which defeats the purpose of being lossless. Here's a look at the difference, first being your flac conversion and second being the original lossless track from my copy of Sonic 3D Blast.

^ you can see from the right end of the waveform that the hertz frequency is cut off at about the 16000 range on both channels, meaning that in reality, the source file was either downsampled to 32khz (which wouldn't make much sense) or the source was an mp3 or other lossy format. Lower bitrates set lower cutoff points which is how we get lower filesizes. Those strange high peaks also give away that it was probably a lossy source file.

^ The same track, ripped from source, in lossless. The channels look cleaner and frequencies peak up to the 22050hz range. The flac conversion should look identical to this, even post-editing.

Not trying to downplay your work, I'm a huge fan of your rips and all the work you've put into making the complete collections. I just have an OCD when it comes to audio quality, archiving, and just making the most out of filesizes and frequency levels.

I have no idea about the spectral analysis of the files. I just try to preserve as much data as possible since converting lossy forces the loss of samples. Whatever you see is as "lossless" as you're ever going to get until Capcom decides to release an OST.

Edited that post to mention Sonic 3D Blast (with some examples). I'll take a look at Ultimate MvC3's data in a bit, I can imagine it possibly being lossy from source on the PS3 (if it uses at3's) but maybe it uses lossless XMA on the 360. My Jojo's Bizarre rip were from lossless XMA's so I'm hoping the same applies to UMvC3.

I've ripped UMvC3 from the 360 version which uses XMA. Sonic 3D Blast uses redbook audio which I ripped directly off of the disc. It is lossless but maybe someone burned mp3s on the disc. I can never say for certain since I don't know the audio engineering process for that game.

Good point about the mp3s being burned to the disc, a lot of sites like to host games with mp3s as the redbook to save space, which is infuriating when you want a lossless rip of a game's soundtrack. haha It's not too hard to read spectrals after doing some comparisons of lossy and lossless formats and it's definitely handy when doing or downloading gamerips of games with unorthodox frequencies i.e. PS1's XA audio format. I might type up a tutorial in how to properly rip music from specific formats, there seems to be a lot of confusion when it comes to up/downsampling and what it physically does to the audio.

EDIT: And I totally just fell on the Sonic 3D Blast ISO you used! It's the same one hosted on Emuparadise, looked at the spectrals of them and you're right, they were mp3s burned onto the image itself. Fortunately, they have a legitimate flac rip of the soundtrack here: [Hidden link. Register to see links.]

However when you burn redbook audio it becomes lossless PCM which will always be the same size regardless of audio originally being lossy or not. It would be extremely counter productive to do so I doubt that with most ISOs.
