You can also press the print button on your keyboard, open MSPaint and hit Ctrl+V (paste) and voila. You don't need a program for everything.

Yes, if you want a full screen capture it's the best and fast way but if you wants capture part of screen or a window program, the best way is use a program for screen capture, the one in the link I showed have timer also, sometimes little features makes the difference.
