FINAL & Most Complete STAR WARS Score Thread [Official & Fan Made] [LOSSLESS] [MEGA]

    I. INTRODUCTION

To put finally an end to all the Star Wars thread scattered among the forums. I will, and I ASK YOUR HELP TOO (look at the wishlist, part III), try in this thread to overcome the following challenge:

Propose COMPLETE scores of STAR WARS movies in LOSSLESS quality

For this purpose I will, for each movies, propose a selection of soundtracks (official or Fan made). Some of the cues will be repeated over different albums. Therefore for each movies I will add a following comment:

What is (are) the soundtrack(s) I need to own, to have the most Complete score of the movie?

You can find this comment in the conclusion (end of post, part V).

This will help people to focus on the main albums of the series to have a complete experience of the movies' awesome music.

    II. DETAILS

LOSSLESS quality for all music cues

    File Type: ALAC .M4A files
    Sampling Rate: 44 100 kHz
    Bitrate: 16-Bit

I chose ALAC simply because I am an Itunes user.

I crosschecked the title name of the different tracks with the whole collection in order to have consistent tracknames for all songs!

Credits to pre-edited files will be provided

Tags are set with an accurate precision for ARTISTS, TITLE, ALBUM & YEAR

SCANS are included for ALL the proposed Albums.

Due to the fact some albums include the original trilogy in a whole bundle, my comment "What is (are) the soundtrack(s) I need to own, to have the most Complete score of the movie?" will be displayed at the end of these albums for the EPISODE IV, V, VI.

Any comment to improve the thread is welcome as well as suggestions. We are a community of STAR WARS fan!

This thread has for sole purpose to propose a complete detailed versions of star wars scores in high quality, any help to complete the thread is welcome!

Re-uploads are accepted but I don't expect the files to disappear any soon so enjoy fellow members!

    III. WISHLIST

Sadly, I couldn't gather complete scores for all the movies so here is my wishlist:

    - STAR WARS EPISODE II ATTACK OF THE CLONES COMPLETE SCORE (LOSSLESS: either FLAC or ALAC)

    - STAR WARS EPISODE III REVENGE OF THE SITH COMPLETE SCORE (LOSSLESS: either FLAC or ALAC)

    - JOHN WILLIAMS STAR WARS TRILOGY made by the UTAH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA LOSSLESS

    - Any STAR WARS material that is in Lossless

If anyone has more complete scores for any of the other movies in lossless quality, let me know. I will check it out, edit the tag files, credit you and propose them on this thread.

    ENJOY

    V. WHAT TO GET TO HAVE COMPLETE SCORES FOR EACH EPISODE

    Answer:

Episode I: You need BOTH proposed albums since a same track is edited differently depending on the album (like the loop is different, the instrumentals...)

Episode II & III: I am waiting for a soul kind to share with me a lossless score of these movies. But the MP3 versions are complete!

Episode IV & VI: In my opinion you are pretty complete for both scores if you take the "Original Trilogy ABC Salvage Edition 2009" & "STAR WARS TRILOGY THE
    ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK ANTHOLOGY
    ".

Episode V: Go with "THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK [IMPERIAL AUDIOPHILE EDITION, 2012] " and you are set.

    VI. CONCLUSIONS

    Here you go!

I hope this can be a reference in the forum for STAR WARS music.

Don't forget to comment, give me feedback & like so the thread won't sink too fast and so that we can spread the love of this music.

Ok guys I am finally done here Enjoy again!

    See you around!

Thanks a lot for these lossless uploads, _Marth_.

Like you, I'm an iTunes user and M4A ALAC is my favorite lossless file format too.
Lossless rules! MP3 is a crappy digital relic from the late 90's era.

Indeed it's easier this way. But FLAC can be converted without loss to ALAC or vice-versa which is pretty great. You just need a good encoder (XLD for instance).

    You're right.
As Mac user, XLD and xACT are the best free softwares for ripping, encoding, converting and tagging audio files, IMHO.

I saw you're in Geneva (Switzerland), maybe you're fluent in French (I am ).

Oui évidemment mais c'est un forum Anglais c'est pour cela que je préfère parler anglais. Enfin j'ai trouvé les musiques en FLAC et je les ai encodées en ALAC car je ne pouvais aps les mettre sur mon Ipod sinon.

Yes it was pretty annoying to scoop around the forum for threads whose links have been mostly vanished

I've actually been meaning to dig through the various releases but they're kind of hard to distinguish from each other. Great to have all the relevant versions in one thread. Thank you for your efforts!!!

Is the Original Trilogy ABC Salvage Edition worth downloading? I have Skywalker's trilogy edit from earlier this year and that's pretty hard to beat.

    Hi, wonderful thread.

Can you (or Spectre) elaborate more on this release?
    • Is this from a previous thread/release? (Can I have a link to it?)
    • Is there an available tracklist?
    • Is there a list of edits made to this?
    • Is it a complete fan-edit of various music from various episodes? (or is it a mix of fan-edits + "retail tracks")
    • OT or the PT or both?

And also, I must ask what the 24bit is about:
    • Is it from 24bit sources or is it just upscaled for editing puproses (or both)?

I would like the most details on this release.
Very interested in eeeeeeeeeeverything about this one, the cover is foreign to me.

Geek out on me, aaand go!
It came true! You're lookin' at it...

I would be really interested you show me threads about this edit or more information concerning it. I know that ABC version for instance has some nice cue from the original radio drama of star wars which is not present in the movies. So I am really curious about which compilation is better

Basically a really kind and devoted star wars fan, named ABC, did a huge work on the original trilogy score by compiling and proposing a complete soundtrack for episode 5 and an important compilation of anthology and special editions soundtracks of the original trilogy in his salvage editions.

How about posting the Star Wars Christmas album in this thread as a curiosity? I have all but the track about the Wookie comb.

Well they are pretty complete for the original trilogy IV & VI. But there are 100% complete for episode V.

@Henry42: I don't have this Album is it in any way official, I mean has it any relevance to the movies???

I gave a quick look around the internet and to be honest I don't see the value of this album here. Sure it's star wars related but tons of things are star wars related.

The music in this album is not made by John Williams and doesn't match the huge quality of the symphonic orchestra conducted by John williams.

Nevertheless I can easily guide you through PM to download links of this album as I found some sites about it.

I'd be interested in a link.

I think it's relevant because the final track was done by one of the composers who followed in John Williams' steps (I forget who wrote it but it's like a Bruce Broughton or John Debney style) and this was done around the time of the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special (Although it's not a soundtrack of it. Like John Denver & the Muppets: A Christmas Together, I believe the album came first) involving the same cast and behind the scenes types. Since we have musicals here why wouldn't it belong on this site and in the "most complete" Star Wars thread? I'd say even music from the TV series, animated series, and Ewoks films belong in this thread, not just the big 6 films. If it's complete then it should be complete.
