    Should be stickied, IMHO.

Thanks for the list, Zoran !

It is more of a text only host similar to [Hidden link. Register to see links.]

Online comments say Mediafire is gone now too, but it looks like they just changed from file hosting to cloud storage. I'm not sure of the difference. Mediafire was definitely under scrutiny by the Feds and weren't getting off the hook like Rapidshare did. Does Mediafire's switching to cloud storage change anything important about using them for common uploading of files to share???

I assume that cloud storage is for personal use only.

You have to pay $9/mo for your files to be downloaded by others on Mediafire now...free doesn't allow it

Do what? I have a free account and I can upload and share just fine.

Confirmed: Tested just a moment ago. Uploaded a bunch of files to my free account, logged out, visited the links, and downloaded them again.

MF has had some server issues in the last three days; as per usual the "community" has gone stark raving mad and started spreading rumours that this is the end of Mediafire.

Two things have changed on Mediafire since the MU debacle:

    a) You have to sign up to upload. A free account is fine.
    b) They are being a little more trigger-happy with regard to deleting accounts of known copyright infringers.

Apart from that, business as usual, folks.

    Look at this website:

    Code:
    https://www.mediafire.com/select_account_type.php?utm_source=ad_free&utm_medium=button#step-1
This is what I was referencing. Under free account it says content distribution is 0 mb/month. I am assuming this means downloading of your uploaded files by someone other than yourself...

    Also from that site:

    Content Distribution

Files in your account can be distributed to others without viewing the MediaFire website. You can also distribute files up to 10GB. When a file is downloaded from your account the transfer is charged against your account.
In other words, you can pay to obtain direct links - so your downloaders don't have to look at the Mediafire landing page and occasionally solve a Captcha as they usually do.

I guess this is more useful for people who want to, say, offer some software for download from their website but want to offload the server / bandwidth concern to a third party, ie Mediafire. They pay the flat rate, and in exchange people get simple and direct downloads from you and they never know their download was provided by somebody else.

MF are playing a very clever game; on the surface, everything is changing - but inside everything is exactly the same. I imagine they will be buoyed by the inevitable failure of the Dotcom case - what an unmitigated FARCE that has been!

You guys nearly gave me a fecking heart attack!

I bought an account on MF to do the massive amounts of re-ups here and on other forums and seeing the comments by yepsa & cleatus my heart sank then skipped a beat.

Thanks for your tests and input tango...whew, now I need a beer.

I assume (hope) you mean the U.S. Feds will fail. Here's an interesting article with Dotcom refuting all the claims against MU...

Rapidgator is now on the down list. Peeje might as well be as I have not been able to download from them in a bout a week.

I was able to download 4 files from Peeje earlier today.

I remember posting around the time that Megaupload went under, that expectations by many that we could all just switch to another hoster and all would be fine were unreasonable.

Thousands of servers cannot simply be bought and brought on-stream seamlessly.

Hmm, maybe I just have bad timing with Peeje but the fact that service is spotty has put me off from using it in the future. Rapidgator is indeed down.

I use Mediafire for nearly everything. No issues. I have a free account and no one has had a problem. I can download at least 5 or 6 files at a time from them, also.

Rapidgator is not down, it works fine. BUT, a number of files there have been Trojans, so watch out. I was looking for stuff, and they'd have files labeled at 2 or 3 hundred MB. I did not notice at first that the file was acutally only several kb it 1 or 2 mb. So, if using rapidgatoe, make sure everything matches. Macafee handled the sitch no sweat, but still. I have had a couple folks I trust use it though, and had no problems. This was as of two days ago.

Also note, that although Mirror Creator offers mirrors to Rapid Share, all links I have used in the last few days show that as a failed upload, so you may wanna check when you up. I have had several of other's mirrors also say "file not found", so you might just want to follow your own link after a while, see what took, and what did not.

Multiupload working fine with 6 filehosts - use their batch manager if you're having trouble connecting.
Please don't ask for a re-up of my links as a refusal often offends.

    So, they're back.

Their Batch Manager doesn't work on a Mac.

But, as I feared, the old account is gone, as are all the files I had there.

Are you talking about multiupload at the old .com address or the new one at .biz?
