Why dont you get PSF or NSF ect.?
If you like VGM so much, its a file that is a rip straight from the game and it doesnt require a lot of space. Here's an illustration, FFX the whole game is only 40MB! But the bad part is not in stereo. I think it can be in surround sound im not sure, and the sound is in MIDI. Just click here im not gonna explain just go to the link to get a better idea of what it is.

Because the music on the album is better quality than the music on the game of course.

Not really its just notes thats why the memory is low.
PSF2 is internally structured as a file system, rather than PSF which is a single PS executable. PSF's native sample rate is 44100 Hz, while PSF2's native sample rate is 48000 Hz. The sample rates vary from 8000 Hz to 96000 Hz.

This may hold true for games with MIDI soundtracks, but I don't believe this is the case for games with orchestral soundtracks.

Thats different, orchestral on VGM soundtracks its just orchestral music. This MIDI is used for electronic musical instruments such as keyboard controllers, computers, and other electronic equipment to communicate, control, and synchronize with each other.

Yeah but a lot of the soundtracks I buy and thus post are orchestral, thus why this thread exists. Its the individual choice of the members if they want to download lossless versions of midi soundtracks like FFVII and earlier SNES soundtracks.

Oh thats cool, i thought this thread was VGM ost's and i was like why dont they get MIDI files? MIDI is lossless tho, the only thing bad about it is not in stereo. Besides i have some CDs that are orchestral like Zelda and FF7 advent childeren. Its just I like VGM and the sound tracks dont have all the songs and sounds in the game thats why I use MIDI files.

Quagga, I don't see where you get that PSFs aren't in stereo. I assure you they are, and since the people in this thread are likely audiophiles, I must say the PSF for games with sequenced soundtracks (like FF7) makes the most sense. There is no dynamic range compression, as most CDs are processed with to a degree, great or small. Less steps in the chain from the source to your speakers, since they're synthesized and output directly from your computer.

Only two drawbacks: the CDs tend to have been EQ'd and have more treble and bass, and the reverb synthesis is not true to the PlayStation sound, and hence the soundtrack. However, most likely you can apply EQ yourself to your taste, and the reverb really truly sounds better to me than the original. It's cleaner and more pleasing to me.

Still, no problem with uploading the soundtrack discs in FLAC, I'm sure there's any number of reasons some people would prefer them, including portable media players and what not. But it is nice having the entire FF7 take up only 807 KBs on my hard drive and in subjectively better sound quality. Anyway, I wouldn't have chimed in if not for the correction on the stereo thing.

I've started the upload of Disc 1. I usually don't upload FLAC rips of my discs, FFX and VII are exceptions because they were actually requested from some old friends of mine, since I've them up... why not share here?

Much obliged. I really appreciate your efforts here

Outstanding. Thank you. Don't worry about the wait. I'm a patient man

Also, thanks for uploading to Megaupload. Personally, I favour this hosting site over the others. Much faster download speeds. And for some reason, Rapidshare seems to timeout on me allot.

    Cheers!

He really needs to post stuff NORMALLY not in BORG speak. Figuring out what he posts is a mystery.

    Rofl

The fella is off his head. He acts like he's a real robot. I was pissing myself when I realized ALL of his posts were in BORG speak. Just about sussed out that resistance is futile = a password when I downloaded a soundtrack of his for the first time. Maybe he's like the villain from that Jim Cavizel film - Highwaymen. Only instead of his car, heffalump and his computer are ONE
