Oh here is the cd set in question:
[Hidden link. Register to see links.]
Yeah they're the original music from the games, not arranges, except for a few tracks.
Lossless soundtracks wanted:
- Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin (aka Gallery of Labyrinth)
- Final Fantasy 1 & 2 Original Soundtrack (arrange from Origins)
- Final Fantasy III (DS version)
- Kingdom Chums: The Original Top Ten (will take in lossy too)
- (Any) Mega Man (1-6) official arrange albums
- Sonic World Adventure : Planetary Pieces: (Sonic Unleashed)
- Sonic 3D Blast (Saturn)
Any chance to have more informations about this?
Is it just a game rip that was reworked and named "bootleg"?
Or is a "real" bootleg that was published or distributed ?
I want to know more about it, who recorded it, who make the covers, where is the original source?
Answers will determine if this album have it's place on vgmdb as a "bootleg", or will not make it at all being just a rip with fan-made covers..
Thanks.
A game rip is a bootleg. I guess some people think a bootleg refers solely to an illegally leaked score. Well a game rip is a bootleg too. I ripped it myself, recorded and mixed it in 24 bit.
Yeah but game-rips should be called game-rips so as not to confuse things.
The term "Bootleg" should be used to designate illegally reproduced copies of a professional work.
IMO.

SUPER MARIO 64 (Original Soundtrack)
(1996) NINTENDO
Official soundtrack to Super Mario 64. Contains two versions of Pirahna's Lullabye, I think one of them was unused. The "Bob-Bomb Battlefield" theme is referenced in different ways throughout the disc, as Koji Kondo likes to do with the newer Mario games, using a central tune. Cheerful, lovable, classic Mario goodness.

Star Fox 64 Official Soundtrack
(1997) NINTENDO
Among other feats, Star Fox 64 was the first commercial game to feature Rumble Technology additions to a standard controller. It's a feature we likely take for granted today as it's an industry standard now, nonetheless, the music to the game was composed with raucous strings, triumphant brass and rolling drums to accompany the new vibration-enhanced gameplay. Turns out Koji Kondo can churn out dark, complex tense compositions too. Starwolf's theme is excellent.
Composed by Koji Kondo and Hajime Wakai

MarioKart 64 - Race Tracks
(1997) NINTENDO
The official soundtrack to Mario Kart 64. A distinct flavor of poppy bass and cheerful organs sets the tone nicely for this classic kart-racer. Love the ending theme.

Thanks to various YT posters for having samples ready
ENJOY!
(Plz let me know of any broken links)
As a collector and a staff member of vgmdb, i am very very picky when it comes to music titles, names, designations..
Game rips are game rips, audio recording.. whatever, they generally are on Digital format only (rarely recorded on CD/tape..)
Bootlegs are published/distributed copies against the law. They generally was pressed/printed or CD-R burned.
Redbook audios is also another format and they should never been called Game Rips too (as i see too often).

Antraxx, a big THANK YOU for the N64 trilogy! Classic soundtracks all, and great to have them in lossless. Thanks also for your comments and descriptions. It's been a while since I've listened to Mario 64 in its entirety, and I don't remember the Bob-Bomb Battlefield theme recurring.. Very interesting!
Another stunning post![]()

Once again, thanks jone.
I'm also having this problem with Twilight Princess. 88MB is clearly the right size but I'm also getting the 'Unsupported compression method' message. Could this be because of the password encription? It doesn't seem to ask for a pw before attempting to unpack tho. Any advice from those who have got it working would be appreciated
And thanks AxeGrinder for the Sonic Adventures. I never really got into these soundtracks, so maybe its time to give them a go.
