Thumbs up KaFaraqGatri's "Spyro the Dragon" Music Collection

I know these have been posted before but I don't know in what format, or if they were better/worse than these editions. So I thought I would post my versions.

Being a huge fan of the Spyro games and the music (particularly Stewart Copeland's work), I compiled these a few years back from a variety of sources. I think they are the most complete and best sounding versions I have come across. Everything is ripped from the .XA files on the game discs, mastered where needed (for example, to remove clipping) and encoded to MP3 using LAME @VBR-0.

The file password is at the bottom of this post.

    SPYRO THE DRAGON (2CDs)
    MUSIC BY STEWART COPELAND

The one that started it all. The end credits are mono, so I left them that way.

    Spoiler!

    SPYRO 2: RIPTO'S RAGE (2CDs)
    MUSIC BY STEWART COPELAND

The EU release had the music in mono, to make way for other spoken languages. I ripped the majority of music from the NTSC disc, which was in stereo. The EU disc contained some completely different alternate mixes (for example, the Ripto boss fight has no operatic voice in the EU version, whilst the US edition does). There was also some unused (and heavily clipped) music on the EU disc, which I cleaned up a bit. Finally, two demo versions of Skelos Badlands and Sunny Beach that were not included in the game were added.

    Spoiler!

SPYRO: YEAR OF THE DRAGON (2CDs)
    MUSIC BY STEWART COPELAND

The EU release once again had the music in mono, to make way for other spoken languages. It also dropped a number of tracks to make more space, and thus some tracks were used more than once in the EU version (and fans never got to hear some of the original music). I ripped the music from the NTSC disc, which was complete and in stereo.

    Spoiler!

    SPYRO: ENTER THE DRAGONFLY (2CDs)
    MUSIC BY STEWART COPELAND

Whilst the game had it's flaws, Copeland's work on this game is, in my opinion, his best Spyro score. He composed a rich, lively and diverse score.

    Spoiler!

    SPYRO: A HERO'S TAIL (2CDs)
    MUSIC BY GAME AUDIO LTD.

British company Game Audio Ltd. composed the music to A Hero's Tail. Whilst making it their own, there are some lovely Copeland homages in there (the acoustic guitar in particular). The music is great, and does justice to the Spyro musical legacy - Game Audio's reinvented Spyro theme is a lovely little tune, wholly their own but very Spyro-esque.

    Spoiler!

The rock elements are definitely here, especially in Spyro 1.

I'd say no, no skipping or clicks or anything that I remember. If you do spot any, let me know.

Thank you VERY much for the Spyro 3 Rip, being an EU player, I never did get to hear the proper themes to the levels as they were meant to sound, now I guess I can!

    Thanks again.

They are tagged, all my stuff always is. Im looking at them right now in WinAmp. Maybe your playback software doesnt support the ID tags?

I tag all my stuff in the same way, including all the stuff I post here, and no one ever mentions tagging issues. Even when I convert the FLACs to MP3 for iTunes, they still all show up.

I could be wrong but Windows does not have any effect on ID3 tags. Its firmly a software thing.

Actually that is the reason - WAVs only store basic ID tag info. If you converted direct to MP3 the tags would be retained. I recommend dbPowerAmp for such tasks. Its great! Or FLAC have their own frontend app, which is free.
