    news from Peeje

In case you are NOT registered with Peeje, here is something from their latest member e-mail....

"We are excited to announce the official launch of peejeshare.com. This is the start of a whole new era for Peeje. These upgrades have completely redone the entire sharing system, We have upgraded our server's so that you should be able to download at even faster speeds than before. We are working on some exciting new things for the future, including:

    FTP Uploads
    Affiliate Program
    FTP Downloads
Pay to Upload Program (ffshriners saw this coming, but it could be a good thing?)

We have also upgraded the uploading area so that it looks much cleaner. We have realized how important sharing is to our community, so we have made the main homepage link directly to our sharing page..."

    Deleting file(s) at Peeje

This is how it currently seems to work...

    1) After you log in, click on MY FILES on the right.
    2) At the top of the list of your files you should see the "Account Functions" field.
    3) Select "manage file removals" from the drop-down list.
    4) Click the + symbol next to the file you want to remove.
    5) The Info Box for that file will now open.
    6) Because you did step #2 & 3 you will now see a box that says "delete file?"
    7) Check that box to delete that file and then click "continue."

Update to above reply: clicking "continue" only gets me a "all download slots are filled" message, and no file is deleted. WTF? Is anyone else having issues with deleting a file with the increasingly-annoying Peeje?

That's odd... Today, I can upload (I couldn't before) but some (most) things I can't download - either because of the nebulous "download slots filled" message or because clicking "Create Download Link" simply redirects to the Upload screen...

I want to believe in Peeje, God knows I do... but this is getting bloody irritating.

    MEDIA FIRE gone?

Peeje officially sucks, and doesn't care to address the many complaints being registered on their site. Media Fire seemed like a good alternative. I went online for updated info on it's current relationship with the US Justice Dept (since that was big news 3 months ago) and found reports that Media Fire closed down! It seems it just switched from a file hosting service to a "Cloud Storage" service. Looks like they are the same thing to me. Can someone tell me the difference? Thanks!

All is OK at Peeje (apparently)

    E-mail I rec'd today (May 16):
Peejeshare is proud to announce that we are officially finished with our server upgrades, we have added 10 new servers to our lineup to keep up with the massive growth and popularity of the website.

We are aware that many of you have been getting errors while uploading and downloading files, these new servers should give Peeje plenty of growing room for the future, and any errors you may have been having, should no longer be occurring, if you are continuing to have errors while uploading or downloading, then please email support@peejeshare.com and we will address your email within 12 hours.

We want to thank all of you for your continued support of the Peejeshare project, we have had our fair share of growing pains, but things are going well, and we will continue to grow this free file sharing project, we couldn't survive without our loyal members. What helps us most of all is for you to share our service with your friends, so that we can continue to grow, and provide an even better service. I will leave you with that, I hope all of you have an amazing day filled with positive energy.

    Excellent stuff.

And I know this has already been discussed elsewhere but for the benefit of anybody reading only this thread...

...Mediafire is NOT gone nor is it going. They do not permit anonymous uploads anymore - you must sign up for a free acount. That is the grand total difference between Mediafire then and now. There is a vague disadvantage to having an account; namely that if they get pissed off with you because you are uploading material liable to get them in trouble with Team America World Police, you won't just lose the files they specifically object to - you lose your account and the entire contents thereof.

Be careful; obfuscate filenames, keep away from mainstream uploads, don't post the same links to a million different forums, etc... and you should be OK.

After all this Megaupload debacle, and even considering MF's new rules... I am still finding that older MF links are more likely to still exist than any others. And they're still good for free users. Treat them well and I don't doubt that they will return the favour.

That was my first guess. Peeje has become so popular so abruptly they were bound to buy more and more new servers. this was also probably why they started loading their pages with ads. to generate enough revenue to buy some new servers. As for MF...well. there's a captcha that appears sometime, and you have to register to upload. meh. I was already registered since 2007 with a free account, and as I more or less tread only in old anime soundtracks...I think I'm relatively safe (plus passwords, obfuscate filenames and even a bit of l33t speak.)

MESSAGE REC'D FROM PEEJE TODAY (May 25)

Hey everyone, we just wanted to take a moment, and let all of you know about some upgrades that Hostwinds has made for us in order to improve the quality of our sharing system for everyone. The following bugs have been permanently fixed.

    ERROR #PJ319:
This error was occurring for some of our users upon uploading a file, the error was caused by the root file system running out of disk space. There was plenty of disk space open on the servers, however the servers were partitioned in a very inefficient way and thus the root file system was running out of space. We re-partitioned every single server in our cluster, and this will prevent the / partition from running out of space in the future, and this error should never be seen again.

All download slots for this file are currently filled.:
This error is meant to be displayed when a server is overloaded and we are waiting for the load to come down. However it was being displayed for all uploads to a small number of our nodes, the Hostwinds team was able to pinpoint the issue for us, and fixed the node monitoring system for the select nodes. This error should not show up any more, because in reality we have plenty of servers so none of them should ever be overloaded.

We have also updated the file manager of the website, for some members it was still showing files that had been deleted, this should no longer be occurring, you can check out your personal file manager at the following link.

    My Files

We really appreciate your continued support as we try and make the best file hosting service available anywhere, and keep it free for everyone with no premium memberships. If you think we are doing a good job, then the biggest way you can say thanks is by referring your friends to use our service, or posting about us on your website or blog. It is also really helpful when you use the social media buttons found on the site, that's a really easy way to tell all of your friends. We love the community we have going on here, and we want to continue to do everything we can in order to provide you the best service possible.

    has anyone faced something analogous?

I uploaded two files in the past, the one was in April, the other on Thursday.
The files seemed to be working, but after a few days' time (Thursday--> Saturday) the following message has surfaced

The file you requested does not exist.
Any idea why this happened? Peeje claims that they will host our files forever? Why would they disappear? Server problems?

While servers' issues aren't something to exclude, there's still a thing called DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) to take into consideration. They have to delete copyrighted material, too, they're no different from others file-hosting services.

Peeje seems to be having "issues" again. Trying to delete a file in my own account just takes me to the download page, which is something Peeje did before but supposedly fixed. I've also gotten the "all download slots filled" message even when testing a file I just uploaded. Peeje still seems to be a hit & miss service---great when it works, frustrating when it doesn't. Question: were you able to download your 2 files at all, or did the message crop up only recently? I pasted a URL into a post with an extra character by mistake and got the same message as you when I tried to download it in Peeje. If you hit the "edit" button on your post you should see the complete Peeje URL instead of the truncated version that shows up once you submit the post (assuming your procedure is the same as mine). In the edit field is where I saw the extra character.
    Good luck!

thanks for the help guys. As of now the, peeje doesn't load for me (at all). Another miss that occurs at times.

The first file was music sheets, J.S. Bach piano transcriptions pdfs to be precise, only 4MBs. The second file was comprised of educational English e-books accompanied by audio files. I really cast doubt upon the copyright thing because I don't think that the peeje guys would bother to search the copyrights in relation to classical music sheets. Besides, I uploaded another file full of piano solo transcriptions pdfs (approx 600MB) and the file is still alive.
I tried for both file to run download test (Create Download Link -> Click here to download). Having myself assured the the DL was able to launch properly, I stopped the DL process right smack in the middle.

Another point to consider is that I have been uploading my files so far as a non-registered user. I guess there are grounds to believe that peeje might be doing something fishy/shady so as to prompt people to register.

Furthermore, I didn't share the two files publicly - only via e-mails and pms. Which means that the likelihood of somebody having reported the file to peeje is rather wee.

Anyone had problems with Peeje lately? I uploaded a file a couple of days ago (got the download link and "delete code") and have not been able to access that file (either to download it OR delete it) since then. Every time I try I keep getting "All download slots for this file are currently filled" which is pretty much IMPOSSIBLE because I have not shared the link with ANYONE. Not sure what's going on.

I was able to delete one file a few days ago, but no others since then. I wanted to delete them so I could re-upload the same files that I was getting the "all slots filled" messages for. In the end I re-upped them with different file names and they now seem to work fine---for now. The big problem with Peeje, it seems, is that the file is effectively dead once you get the "all slots filled" message, and that can happen anytime, even just after uploading. Perhaps the message refers to the over-all use of Peeje at that time for downloading, and isn't just about your file, but once I get that message I've never seen it go away. I'm still using Peeje, but am adding an alternative link now too, for those cases where Peeje ceases to work. Peeje is pissing a lot of people off and won't be around too long (for filesharing anyway) if they don't get things straightened out. If you HAVE to use Peeje, try re-upping the same file (titled differently from the original) and see if that one works. If it doesn't, it's time to look for a different host.

Well again the same problemos with peeje. I upload the file and not before long the wonderful message "the file does not exist" appears. This is the third time I have uploaded the same file, the previous two were deleted. Obviously servers get desynchronised.....

I'm having the same problem now. Sadly, Peeje's administrators don't acknowledge these problems so there's no clue they are doing anything about it or (or even plan to).

Ya.... Actually this is the 4th time that the file has been sent in Davy Jones's locker. Mercifully it's a relatively small file of only 60 MB....
    Damned peeje and their problemos....
At least for the time being, the previously uploaded files are still alive... Should the problem "infect" them too, then I will ditch peeje....

    A message I rec'd today from Peejeshare...

Sept 19, 2012: "We have some really exciting news, today we finished the network upgrades with Hostwinds, and we now have 20Gbps (Around 5 Full Length Blu-Ray DVD's a second) aggregated bandwidth between all of our servers. These bandwidth upgrades should more than triple the speed at which you can download and upload files. If you have any issues at all please email our 24/7 support department: support@peejeshare.com We look forward to continuing to serve all of your free file sharing needs. Please recommend us to your friends and family, nothing helps us more."

I do not know if these changes will mean an end to their habit of deleting just-uploaded files, or an end to those annoying "all slots filled" messages, but anyone who believed in Peeje at the start, but gave up using them, might want to e-mail them at the support address listed in their message and let them know what it will take for you to recommend them again.....

UPDATE Sept 27: I just uploaded something new to Peeje and it was immediately deleted. So I guess they have not fixed their problems yet.

I have the same issue! If one would upload with an account, does it help?
It's not that we need new ideas, but we need to stop having old ideas.

No. I am registered and although some uploads still remain in my account, others were deleted. And it seems quite random and not copyright related, otherwise why delete part 2 of an upload, but not part 1 ? Peeje is not responding to e-mails or to the negative comments logged at their own website! Do they even know about this dissatisfaction? Do they even care? I've personally gone elsewhere for uploading, but would like it if Peeje got their act back together.

Right....it sounds like the peeje service is run by a 18 year old at an old attick with his grandma...
anyway, which service do you recommend in stead?
