Can you recommend some music with a heroic/rousing sound?

I'm looking for orchestral music from movies, video games, television series, anime, classical music, etc, that is heroic, rousing, or epic, but not just any music that fits that description. For example, I don't care for a Hans Zimmer type of style, can't tolerate too much of a synthesized or tinny sound, don't like electric guitars or other such rock/metal type of accompaniment, etc. I like strong, recognizable themes, and a big orchestral sound. Here are some examples of the type of sound I am looking for:

    Les Preludes
    Ride of the Valkyries
    Also Sprach Zarathustra
Gandalf (The Wizard) from Symphony #3: Inspired of the Lord of the Rings by Johann de Meij
    Anchors Aweigh
    From the Halls of Montezuma
The Battle Hymn of the Republic
    Rule, Brittania

    Raiders of the Lost Ark
    Star Wars
    The Sea Hawk
    Captain Blood
    Kings Row
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
    The Ten Commandments (Elmer Bernstein)
    The Rocketeer
Metropolis (1927 score by Gottfried Huppertz)
    The Ghost and The Darkness
    Lawrence of Arabia
Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
    King Solomon's Mines (Jerry Goldsmith)
    Star Trek: The Motion Picture
    Superman (John Williams)
    The Mummy (Jerry Goldsmith)
    Patton
    Lionheart (Jerry Goldsmith)
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (John Scott, 1997)
    Jurassic Park
    Leviathan (Jerry Goldsmith)
    Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
    The Musketeer (David Arnold)
    Independence Day (David Arnold)
    The Patriot (John Williams)
    Cutthroat Island
Chariots of Fire (I don't like the original version, as I don't care for synthesizers, but I like the London Symphony Orchestra version of the main theme)
Gone With the Wind (It's perhaps not the same as the others, but the main theme is rather big and sweeping)
    Bad Girls (Jerry Goldsmith)
    The Mummy Returns
    Captain America: The First Avenger
    Battle of Britain
    Conan the Barbarian (Basil Poledouris)
    Back to the Future

    Secret Weapons over Normandy
    R2: Reign of Revolution
"Symphonic Fantasies" tracks 2 and 3 ("Kingdom Hearts" and "Secret of Mana")
    Gundam Symphony (30th Anniversary)

Try the Shadow Of The Colossus soundtrack. Stuff like [Hidden link. Register to see links.] is what you're looking for, right?

Thank you for the recommendation, but it's not really the type of sound I'm looking for. To me it has sort of tinny sound, and the melody is rather dull. I can't quite explain it, but it just sounds bland to me.

I suggest the soundtracks to 'Krull', Hellsing Ultimate OVA by Hayato Matsuo, 'O Fortuna' by Orff (although that one has been showing up a lot lately) and selections from 'War Horse.'

I tried listening to those, but they have way too much of a Hans Zimmer/Media Ventures sound.

I'm very familiar with "Krull", "War Horse", and "O Fortunata" (all of which I like), but I'd never heard "Hellsing Ultimate OVA" before. I just listened to a few tracks and it sounds pretty good. Thanks.

You're welcome. Also try the scores to 'Serenity' and 'Space Battleship Yamato.'

I recommend the End Title theme from Ennio Morricone's Untouchables.
    Morricone, Micalizzi, Cipriani, Nicolai

Thanks for the suggestions, but I don't care much for any of those.

Also, keep an eye for the ACIII soundtrack if you like those. Lorne Balfe is composing the whole score, and the Main Theme sounds amazing.

King of the wind by John Scott has a pretty good heroic theme:

I actually already have that one, but thank you nonetheless. I had forgotten about it, and it's long been due for a re-listen.
