    You caught me before I put VI in there. There's a reason for that. I was thinking VII forward because Doc mentioned spiky hair and giant swords. I was making the point that it's the tech integration that makes some of the later games more appealing to me, not those superficial things. Not to say that I don't love me some Japanese girly-mens : smug :

    I could take or leave the giant weaponry, but I generally like the wacky hair. It feels very Japanese. Even in Japanese live-action stuff, you'll see a lot of similar hairstyles.

    My preference is for characters to feel somewhat whimsical, even if they're badasses. A game is a much harder sell to me if I'm playing a gruff, muscle-y marine. I like the crazy costumes and neat color schemes and spike-tastic hair.
