Read the fine print to be sure. You can have a great connection and still have a cap. Also crossing the cap doesn't mean you would lose your connection, just that the ISP would know where their bandwidth is going and probably throttle it a bit to keep it running smoothly. Though repeat offense usually gives them the right to at least tell you to knock it off.

downloads at 50mbs. Not including "power boost"
uploads at 5mbs. not including power boost
Powerboost for big files. free in the package
data cap is 400gb per month.

Is that at least respectable?

Thats pretty fuckin sweet depending on the cost. Friend has a similiar package and pays like 100 bucks, but he also has tv and dvr stuff packaged.

It's like 65 bucks. I have a dvr in each room, expanded digi channels in both rooms, showtime, HBO, and Starz in each room, the phone bundle with unlimited local and long distance, and this IE package. I tend to watch 5 or more PPV movies, and my bill averages out to 150 to 200 per month.

I have on occasion cut the service if I truly needed to for food and such. But I do not go out at all. This is my only social contact, my media center, all of it.

I'm on the most basic unlimited package. I don't do TV or any of that stuff. Just internet and phone line and I don't even plug a phone in. People might phone me. Don't want that shit. I get enough of that on the mobile.

Same here. (our affair will make Cuckoo so green with envy he will play the Grinch this Xmas)The phone line is only for the DSL itself. I haven't used a landline for calls since like 2007.

Right now mine is...
25mbps download
2mbps upload
250gb data cap.

downloads from Megaupload should be a breeze.
Especially if you have a premium membership.
FTP downloads/uploads should be a whiz.

I've already upgraded my internet from the standard package.
I almost want to upgrade again though...
But I don't think it's really necessary at this point.

I'd need more externals if I were to do that.

You probably do since most ISP's have had them for years, but have been very generous. It's usually something like 100 GB per month. An average user only uses like 20 or something.
I just have really cheap DSL so that limits my DL capabilities, but if I had a sweet cable connection like my friend, I would blow through that cap like Wonka and the Glass Elevator.

I only got DSL too but I manage fine.
