i think it's why i love rem and pavement and talking heads so much. their lyrics are intentionally designed to make as little sense as possible. it's more about combing words and phrases in a manner that sounds nice with the music.

anyway, my rant on nirvana, in brief:

i think kurt was an immensely talented songwriter. they wrote some fucking catchy songs that have aged well.

that said, i don't think kurt was some rock deity. he was a fucked up, depressed guy with issues, couldn't handle fame, and blew his head off. (fuck the conspiracy theories)

it's sad and yeah i had the big kurt poster on my wall when i was 14 but life goes on.

probably the suckiest thing is we'll never know what nirvana woulda done had kurt not pulled the trigger. they might've fizzled out, or they might still be rockin today. they probably had at least a few good albums left up their sleeves.

but hey, at least we got foo fighters!

Beautiful piece. Poledouris did what most other composers couldn’t do. Borrow flavors from Orff’s Carmen Burana, yet not compose something that sounded like a rip-off. Wonderfully powerful. Timpani at the 4:25 mark (and the very end) is great.
Screw cowbell......MORE TIMPANI.

I actually am very proud of this one and have replayed it a few times.
Concerning Avatar: The Last Airbender the soundtrack is all just as good. I can upload what I have of the show but I also recommend watching the actual show start to finish. The sequel Legend of Korra is airing next year so it'd be a good time to start. "Leaves on the Vine" is actually one of the last things Mako did before he died and in context is super tear jerking.

I liked having the Conan one to start with but I had a bunch of comedy stuff so I padded it with Wonderboy a funny serious song and then put the rest of the funny with Avatar credits to cap them off for the epic ones. Too bad you didn't like the finale.
That wasn't really System of a Down but Rabbit Joint, a band that a bunch of the guys form System of a Down were in before forming System of a Down.
Hey you forgot about Magic of the Wizard's Dream.

Volume 7 is the other one I'm pleased as punch with.
