iTunes/iPod Trouble

Lately when I've downloaded music from here, they play fine on my iPod. When I play most songs in iTunes, I've noticed that after a minute or less they suddenly end and skip to the next one. Converting to an AAC format does not fix this – it only changes the track length to reflect the shorter time it abruptly ends. Any idea how to fix this? Never seemed to happen in the past but has become a constant issue lately. Thanks!

It may be your iTunes. I would try first deleting the entire library in iTunes and then re-inputting it back in.

If that doesn't work, completely uninstall iTunes and reinstall.

I think that would be a last-resort since anything from a CD, iTunes store, etc. works just fine. Thanks for the advice!

Do the files in question also have playback issues in other media players?

The only media player I have is the iPod so I really can't say. I'm starting to wonder if my computer's become self-aware and doesn't like what I'm doing!

If it's just the ipod, sometimes the copied files are bad, delete from library, and the ipod itself, THEN re-add and sync. If it's itunes and other media players as well, probably a bad file.

if youre on pc, you should have windows media player, which will be able to play .mp3s. i'd give that (or vlc) a shot just to see if they play ok. its easier to install another player (or download a portable one) than try and rebuild your entire library

Thanks for the responses everyone but a solution has been found! I opened the files in Quicktime (forgot this counted as another media player haha) and exported them back onto the desktop. This converted them to AAC AND kept the files' intended track length. Yay!
