Thanks again. Just grabbed the 1st movie in mp3. Speaking of which, may I do some technical remarks:

The mp3 encoding (at least for the 1st movie, haven't checked the others) is good, but could be significantly ameliorated. Usually the best thing to do is to post FLAC rips along with Lame -V0 rips. Lame -V0 (or preset extreme) has by far the best quality/size ratio.

I noticed your rips haven't joint-stereo (but only simple stereo, which usually gives less good result). The easy-to-use presets insane or extreme of lame automatically include it.

Your version of Lame (3.97) is a bit outdated. Nothing catastrophic though, but a little upgrade would be welcome:

It is and it isn't. What's pictured is the European release which did not include the "special bonus" track that was included on the US version. The Search for Spock was released on CD in Europe about six months before it was in the US.

The bonus track is a synthesizer arrangement of the main theme from the movie. It's fluff. If I had the European release, I wouldn't see the need to pick up the US version for that one track. Unless, you're a completist...

I remember my father used to listen to this on vinyl in the early 80's. That was the beginning of my schooling in home audio from my father.

Coming from his Bose 901 series 2 speakers, it used to scare me... it sounded good, but I remember the bass from "The Klingon Battle" was loud to me. I was only 3 or 4 at the time.

Memories... I think I'll burn him a copy for old time's sake and we'll listen to it together again since that original vinyl has been long since stolen in a home robbery.
