Rare Video Game Art Book Thread

O.K. Here's the deal. I created this thread a year ago. Got sick and had to sell everything. Any dead links I can't fix because I don't have the scans anymore either. I figured people could contribute to the thread, but with me not having the time to update the first post to reflect the new links, it forces people to have to scroll through endless messages. So I created a google site at [Only registered and activated users can see links] pass: ffshrine security question answer: 757-555-5555. So if someone wants to add to this thread, they can add the links directly to that page and post the update here. I am trying to figure out how to add a table that can be sorted either by date or alphabetically at will. Remember to pass the rar or zip with ffshrine, also you don't have to worry about anonymizing your links since you would be accessing them from that page instead of this one, and make sure to note the publisher. It's up to you guys now. If anyone has a better idea of how to be more efficient, then post away.

1.Each catalog has at least 3 previews to help you decide if you want to download it.Every thumbnail preview is clickable to pull up a bigger version (though for many still not full size), and in browsers they still are scaled down. (I remember what it was like on dial-up and I'm trying to prevent those guys from spending 4 hours downloading something they won't like).

2.Also where known the actual names of the art books in each series will be displayed, these are not my rips/scans, I just find them, and most don't say.

3.Each file has a WAG extension, just rename it to RAR to unpack the file.This is done to prevent administrators on hosting sites from scanning for and deleting large cabinet/compression files.

4.The pass for all files is ffshrine with the exception of Okami, it's pass is okamiffshrine

5.Post saying thanks, it's not an ego thing. First it bumps the thread back up top where people can see it, and second why do something that takes alot of time if you get the impression noone cares. Take Sarah's advice and thank the uploaders.

6.This thread will be continually updated.Check back often.New updates will be added to this original post in alphabetical order.

I had trouble extracting the Castlevania files with WinRar, but I then tried 7-Zip ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) and I was able to extract the files. I hope this helps anybody who may come across the same problem.

OK, apparently filefront has gotten wise, they had a no-delete policy, but apparently they are deleting anything that they can't "inspect". All the files I uploaded were bogus file extensions and passworded on top of that,I am re-uploading and replacing all the filefront links,even those that still work.I am still looking for a service that doesn't delete files after 7 days without a download and won't pull what filefront just did, any ideas?Oh and I hate using Megaupload and Rapidshare because after you get 1 file you have to wait 15 mins to get another, which is bs.

Make sure you aren't capitalizing the password, it's case sensitive i believe.

I downloaded the Half Life 2 book to check it, it unzipped correctly, no problems....be sure you download both parts, rename the extensions correctly, and type the pass correctly.Whatever is wrong is on your end, good luck.

What program are you using to uncompress the files? I used the actual WinRAR program for all compressions (mine's registered but the shareware version still works even with the nag screen) it does not start with 00, it always breaks files starting with 01.Make sure you are renameing the files correctly, just name them 0.rar, 1.rar, 2.rar etc. to make sure you are doing it correctly and see what happens, everytime someone complains about a file I go to the trouble of re-downloading the entire lot just to make sure they work properly, and they do. It's on your end, use a different uncompression program if that doesn't work, DON'T trust windows to do it.Let me know if you get it.

DevilmanG, the best image extractor I've used for PDFs is Adobe Acrobat's own. If you have it (comes preinstalled on some computers) you'll be privy to that lucky option. If not, the best freeware solution I've used (for PC) is Some PDF Image Extract ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) which converts every page into a jpg image, text included. Not exactly image "extraction" more than "conversion", but for artbooks I'd think it's enough.

I suppose it's easier to view them on a PC. Anyway, with Adobe Reader you can export .jpgs from PDF, actually there should be various softwares that do the same, try to search ;)

Just change manually the extension from ".wag" to ".rar" ;)
