View Full Version : Help a newbie? RAR files?

Ok, so, I'm Radioactiverhino, aka RAR (ironically the same name as the filetype I'm oblivious about). Just joined the forums, and have been downloading some tunes. Could someone shed some light on what a RAR file is, why people use it instead of .zips, and how I can read them?

Many thanks,

I also have this problem...I really need to find a converter. However, unlike the guy above me, I know what they are and why their used....I just need a way to READ them or at the very least convert them to mp3

Just use winrar (http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar371.exe) to extract the mp3's from the rar folder.

You should always check Filext.com when you come across file extensions you don't know.

If you don't even know common compressing files/programs, then you should stay off of download sites -_-

I once accidently Unrar'd an entire emulator and game or something onto my desktop. It was messy.
