I would really love to see Sweeney Todd, Johnny Depp is an amazing actor and he picks some of the best roles. Also Helena Bonham Carter seems to also be in quite a few movies I like also.

never got the chance to watch this film, but according to what i have read it's great. . if you're into musical films.

I'm not into musicals really but I enjoyed this very much because of the cast and the music grew on me. I listen to the soundtrack now and again and it's just as effective offscreen.
Tim Burton is amazing at what he does and there aren't many that can compete with him.

i thought the story was really boring. i guess that wouldnt have mattered but the songs weren't all that good either, and im not a big fan of musicals in general. i mean johnny can sing, but i thought the songs were pretty hard to tell apart. and aside from that its just burton doing the same thing he always does, which is a bit boring at this point. he should do something interesting and different like big fish or sth.

I'm not a big fan of musicals, and i was kinda sceptical when i was going to watch this movie. But i think this movie is really good. The actors were singing really well (i doubted that they would). Another good thing about this movie is that they also added some humoristic moments in it, which makes it less dull. They also got some great actors like Johnny Depp and Sacha Baron Cohen. I do think though that this movie won't appeal to all people, because it's pretty macabre.

The movie was very enjoyable; I especially liked the costumes. I thought the little boy's singing was especially good.

Was it my imagination or did I at one point recognise Michael Palin somewhere in this movie? (would've been great, though, you know, Barber Monty Python Skit :D)

And I did like it. Keeping in mind that it's the first time that Burton has made a musical, and pretty much the first time he has made a ~serious~ film, but he's just so good in his own lovely dark gothic style, I'll never get tired of it.
The singing itself, however, was sort of easily to get tired of (harder to get into, even).

Duo got me kind of thinking about it, though, that Burton isn't very capable of progressing on, trying out new styles and so (as in Big Fish). But portraying London basically as Hell, I wouldn't want to see it in any other way. :D

Another little flaw, though, is that Johnny Depp on a boat with a British accent: I just couldn't look away from seeing Jack Sparrow talking.

awesome flick. Totally didn't know Depp could do so well. Alan Rickman singing?! That was awesome! But I wished we got to see his daughter and Anthony Hope run away together. I thought it would have been nice, a couple like the one Johnny was in before his life was fucked, and then that little kid would turn into another demon barber. Maybe I said too much, but I think that'd been sweet. All that shit aside, this was an excellent film. Tim and Todd is like peas in a pod.

I have seen the original play with Len Cariou and Angela Lansbury, and I must say that Johnny and Helena pale to those two Greats. The movie is OK, but lacks the same kind humor the original play had.

If you watch the original play (it's on Youtube) you will see that Helena completely missed what mrs. Lovett is about. Mrs. Lovett is a psychotic, but humorous pie-maker, but Helena completely failed to bring any kind of humor to the role.

Also, let's face it; Johnny and Helena can't sing. She even said that herself.

Well, for one thing. I don't think the movie failed in comparison to the play. I think they were trying for different things. I don't feel as though the movie was trying to take the place of the play. It was a different version of the same story, is all.

When I first saw the movie, I thought it was decent, but I loved the soundtrack. I got the soundtrack and listened to primarily it for at least a week, loving almost every track. And when I hear the songs, I can envision the scene perfectly. The movie has grown on me to a great degree. I haven't watched it again, but I plan to do so before too long.

I think it is completely fair to compare the movie version with the original Broadway play. Sure, they changed it slighty for the movie, but it is overall an exact copy of the play. Dont' get me wrong, I like the movie, but I just think that people who haven't seen the show, are missing out big time.

Helena Bonham-Carter is one of my favourite actresses around, but she played the role of mrs. Lovett completely without any kind of humor. Mrs. Lovett is supposed to bring a smile to your face, but at the same time, disgust you to no end. I personally think that Helena missed the point.

johnny depp plays a great role in giving justice to his character. The plot is usual, a killer on the loose to revenge what has happened to his family but the new twist there is that they made it musical.
I was amazed, i thought i was in broadway.
