I agree with you, completely.
And by the way if any responsible of a soundtrack label is reading this, please please please make it possible to release a deluxe edition of Hook and Back to the Future!
I would order those two without thinking twice ;) and of course any new or expanded John Williams or Goldsmith score.

Sanico, could you upload A BOY NAMED CHARLIE BROWN?

Thanks in advance!

Not that i wish to procrastinate this topic of impestuous behaviour much. But oyu do realise that once the authorities get here, they are going to investigate EVERY MEMBER not just the members that you are trying to flame out for whatever reason it is that you choose to flame them for, as i solely believe it has nothing really to do with the fact that people are sharing what they have BOUGHT here! because, if you held a grudge with them because you purchase every score you own (which is highly unlikely in this day and age that you have purchased *Legally* every score you own, to which as you are a member here, even if you have changed your username and email, the authorities will investigate the IP address' from every link here, so technically speaking, they will get in touch with Megaupload/Rapidhsare as they have done in the past and everyone that has downloaded the score will be more in the shit thatn those that uploaded it... Why you ask, well, the person that uploaded it is the only person most like to have purchased it to begin with, giving them the legal rights to do with it what they damned please, just like when you purchase a cake or a car, it is yours to do with it what you want! Music piracy is concerned more on the illegal sellin gof as apposed to the illegal downloading as most companies encourage downloading of their stuff as it has commonly increased sales for them anyway! The likes of LaLaLand and VCL really cannot argue at the fact that their stuff gets uploaded when they only release a certain amount of their stock anyway, it would be simply a case of release more of it and then more people will purchase it. I think its suffice to say there are more than 500 score fans in the world, so if a score release gets a 500 unit release, the rest of us that fail to order a copy in time (baring in mind most of the US will get in before the rest of the world) the rest of us are supposed to hold our hands down and surrender to the fact that we will never get to hear it.. I mean, come on guys! play fair, release 500 units and it all sells in the first weekm you have made your money right! so whats the problem anyway. You get pissed at it, release more so the protagonists here that miss there fave score (especially in the economic climate) will purchase perhaps the score they want as apposed to downloading it!

SO please to all that have any inclination as to why music piracy, to which it isnt really, simply check on the terminology of 'Music Piracy' it means to obtain by illegal content to sell on to make money from someone elses hard work, which i think everyone can agree, isnt the case here. Most are simpletons (pardon the expression) that wish to obtain a score or 2 to listen before buying (ever noticed why most now have segments and excerpts on their site?) or simply the score in question is no longer available or never released! WE are not terrorists wanting to obtain the music to seel on for profit to fund crime or terrorism... So focus your energies there! or release more.. End of Argument!

If you wish to carry on this crusade, start a thread about it in the download section and stay the f*ck out of my thread!

Except it seems Mr. cuckoo is too good for 256kbps. ;)

So if you don't mind, you can serve that 320 Nightmare on Elm Street 2 to him cold, on rye, with some butt sprinkles on there.

You also have to remember that if Varese owns the USA rights that you can't upload ANY version of the CD even if it is a non USA release on a non Varese label.

I know that sounds retarded but that's how other sites deal with it in order to stay out of trouble.

For instance ... CINEMAGEDDON got a cease and desist from USA supplier Synapse Films. Some people tried to upload a non USA release of a film that Synapse owned only in the USA. The version uploaded was on a different label from a different country. But CINEMAGEDDON like FFShrine is in the USA so it was nuked.

In order to be safe and protect FFShrine as a whole ... well ... that is how it should be done. My own thoughts of course.

in all honesty it would be a great move to make this forum private

Sarah don't have noticed anything about Intrad, only varese. Have you read the post of the link I have posted before ask??

Nope, I hadn't read it. Sorry, but I was tired, and what FunnyML posted (something along the lines of "Well, we still have complete/expanded scores") lead me to think that all the big labels releases weren't allowed anymore.

Anyway, I guess that because of this the subforum is slowly returning to its original purpose: Videogames/Anime Soundtracks only. A sad day for this place, but certainly it's not the end of the world: there's a bunch of forums that RIAA, Varese, etc. haven't reached yet.

EDIT:

According to this post ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), also Lakeshore Records releases aren't allowed.

Pity about this Verase Sarabande thing, especially since they have a bad habit of dropping really good albums from their catalog (I rue the fact that I will probably never again own a "new" copy of the Army of Darkness soundtrack, and all because it's out of print).

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

All his posts are now marked empty. Pretty lame display, guys. Any more casualties? :whatever:

If this place was really going to get shut down, it would get shut down regardless of our actions. There would be no "warning." Of course what we're doing is illegal...it's always been like that. Restricting one label still doesn't get you off the hook. At least stand by your convictions, god damn it.

Endangering this forum...it's bullshit. If you pull the plug on this one, another one opens up. It's always been like that. It doesn't end here.
I don't understand all this people who's been leaving. Don't tell me you didn't know that this would have happened, it was only a matter of time before Labels showed up here. I know I didn't post much, but I'm pretty sure I've posted some Varese album in the past. Now they expect me to check each and every post of mine to delete the links? Sorry, guys. You can contact the file-hosting service(s) and request them to take the stuff down, like you always did, afterall :/

This catastrophe could have easily been avoided if this action would have taken please because the likes of Edavvi would never know the download section existed!!

I think you miss the finer point, only people that shared and appreciated would be able to see and even know the download section existed, it would not have been for peole to be antsy... They would have had to have uploaded something for the community to begin with, making them just as in the doo doo as everyone else, thus making a communuty that had no real reason to be a pain in the arse.

Edavvi and the likes would not know the download section existed, as far as he and all would be concerned my forum would be for interviews and reviews of films and scores!

You make a good point. Though Even then im sure someone would get access legitimately and eventually decide to go to the riaa. he may not actually get in trouble even if he uploaded. not that this would happen for a long time tho

It's a combination of several factors. Jealousy is a big one. Stupidity is the other. Ed's got a comfortable sense of moral outrage coupled with an entitlement syndrome rooted somewhere very deep inside his mutated cerebellum. Throw in some chronic social maladjustment and juvenile attitude toward "music thieves that are somehow cheapening his own collection of soundtracks", and you've got the basic genetic structure of this neanderthal.

Ignore the troglodyte and go about your business.

He started to spamming the forum making successive posts and asking for requests in a rude manner, although some members (included me), told him for not doing that in the best polite way, but he just ignore the fact and continued, even when some members like Sirusjr were kind enough for scanning covers exclusive for him but even that he wasn't pleased enough because he didn't liked the way they were scanned. lol
But at that point he was already a 'Persona non grata', and there was a flame war between him and some lossless members, which i didn't like to see and that was the trigger for his ban, and the rest is history.
He says that he is a 40-something years old and have thousands of CD's and a member of FFS lurking around since 2/3 years ago, but God only knows how many stuff he downloaded until he was banned.

And a User of this Thread says me he have the Score of Beltrami. But he didn't answered me !

The original music score was composed by John Ottman, but some music from Scream was added to the chase scenes later on during post-production. John Ottman expressed some displeasure about this action in an interview featured on the Halloween: 25 Years of Terror DVD released in 2006. Ottman's score was supplemented with Marco Beltrami's scores from Scream, Scream 2, and Mimic by a team of music editors as well as new cues written by Beltrami during the final days of sound mixing on the film. Dimension Films chief Bob Weinstein demanded the musical changes after being dissatisfied with Ottman's score.

In fact, this is true, but the only thing is the cue from Scream, Mimic and other Beltrami music cues previously used was arranged and re-edited in Halloween H20, it's a little bit different, so I understand why he want this version for Halloween since I also looking for it, unfortunatly the only version I have can find is with sfx from the DVD, but anyway in this bootleg you can heard that sounds really different than original Scream & Mimic cues ;)

Why has the other fourm closed and do I get the feeling this place is going the same way?

God, when I was a kid I thought I was in a weird world where I was the only one who like film scores. Now I finding true lovers of the art and it's disappearing.

Is there nothing to be said for the fact that the majority of us are getting expanded or complete versions of scores we already own or simply cannot pay money for?? I mean, release these damn scores Record Companies and I'll pay the money!!

Yes, but not only. It was just a matter of time until the thread was shut down. Eddavi just accelerated things up.
Post indiscriminately such a huge collection of movie scores available, on a public forum and under a specific thread for lossless only, will inevitably raise the attention of speciality soundtrack labels. And this wouldn't occur (or at least, probably wouldn't happen so easy), if it was under a private forum in the first place.
A 'low-prifile' is sometimes needed and i somewhat more and less raised this question before ([Only registered and activated users can see links]).
This reminds me of what happened on humans when they were building the Babel Tower. The more you want the hit the skyes without looking back of what you are doing, the sooner you fall.

there's no need for it to go private and no need for anyone to leave.

This is what I was thinking.

You don't *have* to leave. Nobody's going to raid your house. Nobody's going to sue you for millions. If you don't feel comfortable sharing scores/soundtracks, then that's understandable, but don't feel afraid or bullied by some mouth-breather with a power trip who thinks he can shut you all down with poorly articulated threats and doctored screenshots.

At the very least, don't all just bail. Sleep on it; give it some thought.

Why not for god's sake. It's not his fault this site seems to be running on empty. All the man is doing is providing a place for whoever may want to go. If people want to stay here they will so, so why not give them a vote. Or are you that afraid of competition?.

FunnyML

It's not just about scores from Varese. This is only one of the few labels, which was mentioned in special. In fact, sooner or later all labels connected to the RIAA will be affected. And that's a long list according to their site.

It's rather sad to see people limbering up and running like hell, but I do understand the thought process behind it. I was planning to leave myself, and I didn't even have anything particularly to do with this... but, without wishing to offend any of the good people here, I think that perhaps there is a certain amount of melodrama happening as a result...

Posts like "it's all over, goodbye my friends" are going to achieve nothing, except to give the guy who caused all this in the first place something to feel smug about.

Maybe the reins will be tightened more - maybe they won't. Let's see how it turns out. It's safe to say the worst that will happen is we won't be able to share any more; possibly some people will receive requests to take down XYZ score and after that, the end. If that occurs, then perhaps it's time to take the mass-sharing somewhere else - but it's not the end of the shrine, nor is it the end of music sharing here.

Sanico, and myself in the past, have expressed concern about having such a massive quantity of music (particularly in lossless formats) available in this one, concentrated place. Particularly limited editions, brand new releases, and albums put out by small or independent labels. It attracts attention.(Although so far, it wouldn't have done had it not been for our "anonymous" whistle-blower!)

Not that I can talk, having not really participated, but at the very least let me suggest that the people who are panicking or worrying, really shouldn't... When the bully comes along and stamps all over your sand castle, you smooth out the sand and build another, better, bigger one. Either the bully learns to build his own sand castle and play nicely with the other children, or he eventually realises that his destructive tantrums are hurting nobody but himself - and he goes away to sulk on his lonesome. Get angry, cry, chase him, or let him affect you in any way, and he's winning. Take his efforts to hurt you, and use them to make yourself stronger - and you're winning and he's losing. You can probably tell I was bullied at school. ;)

Either way, they don't last long...

I try to stay out of these things, but...

I, for one, am not going anywhere. There is still plenty to do see and to do. I'll have to be more careful of what I choose to post, but otherwise I plan no change in my routine. While the limited access of certain labels is unfortunate, they are by no means the totality of this forum.

I don't post much, but even with the new restrictions, it will have little effect on my uploads.

For those who come here primarily for modern American scores, and who therefore see little sense in hanging around under the new reality, I bear no grudge. We all gotta do what we all gotta do. Who knows, maybe I'll see you around again after the heat's blown over or under a new identity.

In the meantime, have some music, you'll feel better.

What the hell!!! What's going on? I haven't been getting my daily email notifications so I don't know where to start from to catch up on the details. All I keep seeing is something about this place dying and people being gone, and as I can see some posts have been deleted? Can somebody explain to help me catch up?

The Soviet march from RA3 will be performed live in Australia tonight(actually right now)
I don't think it's on the CD but if anyone can direct me to a video or recording of it, I would greatly appreciate it.

Nobuo Uematsu - Blue Dragon

This is the first soundtrack composed by Nobuo Uematsu for a game not connected with Final Fantasy and for a Microsoft console. Blue Dragon has numerous tracks of the sort you would associate with an RPG and a specific rock track sung by Deep Purple's Ian Gillan that was used in boss battles. Again I highly recommend you guys listen to this as it is one of my favorite Uematsu soundtracks. If anyone wants lossless of this or Lost Odyssey, there should still be links on my Lossless Game Soundtracks Thread. ([Only registered and activated users can see links])

Ever since I first heard this soundtrack, It has been one of my favorite Uematsu soundtracks of all time. There are various powerful and bombastic militaristic tracks that exude a power of extreme military might. On the other hand, there are numerous mellow piano tracks that exude a deep heart-felt sadness along with the stories they are meant to accompany. There are plenty of fantastic tracks in between and overall I suggest that everyone give this soundtrack a listen!

Like any arrangement of music it may be initially harder to enjoy these without being familiar with the source material. Still, after repeated listenings I think most of you will find that these are wonderful albums filled with beautiful arrangements of peaceful music. I am uploading the ones that aren't by Uematsu because they are great (FFX-2 and FFXI).
