THE SHINING ADDITIONAL RECORDINGS
Alright, it seems that this is actually some sort of fan-compilation of The Shining cues presented in Wendy Carlos "Rediscovering Lost Scores" albums Vol. 1 & 2, to provide a total of 31 mostly unused tracks from the film.

As per his usual method, Kubrick commissioned a full score from Carlos and in the end, rejected all but a few cues, replacing the rest with source cues. And, as per his usual self, Kubrick was mostly right in doing so. Though this isn't at all a bad horror score by itself, Carlos isn't quite a Krzystof Penderecki or Ligeti when it comes to plain orchestral dissonant weirdness. It is still a fun curiosity to listen to, particularly the alternate versions of cues heard in the film (most notably, a strikingly alternate main titles).

Well, it's not actually even the full Vol 1 I have here, some unused/unreleased tracks from Clockwork Orange are omitted.
Rather, someone just took the tracks pertaining to The Shining from Vol 1 and 2, added in the regular official soundtrack release in a package (which I didn't upload here), slapped on a tag "Complete Score", despite the absense of several various source cues present in the film, and I downloaded it.

I do hate it when people do that for no good reason and fail to actually point that out, everything becomes a mess when you then try to find good tracklistings with several other, more "official" bootlegs abound. Just serves to painfully remind me of some of the hair-pulling moments of collecting Blade Runner scores.

But this did peak my curiosity once I found out what this really was, so I'll try and find full versions of them both ASAP.

Does anyone have the music to the Disney docu-movie "Earth"? I'm surprised no one has requested this one by now; the music is so majestic. I see that there was a release of "Planet Earth" (the series), but I have no way of knowing whether the music was repeated or recycled in the movie. I'm checking the back of the box and it says it was composed by George Fenton.

And if anybody gives me that line to "use the search function," I'm going to punch them in the nose. :-P The search function is seriously flawed when it comes to exact title/artist matches.

I've only been able to find the songs ripped directly from the show on blogs or torrent sites. I'd really rather have the official MP3 album, but I simply can't afford to buy it right now.

There are only four official soundtracks for the original franchise: a foreign album with suites from the first and third films (the second just uses re-arranged cues from the first film), Fred Mollin's Part VII/VIII CD, and Manfredini's Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X scores. Everything else is bootleg.

There is a complete Jason Lives 2-disc soundtrack, but that's a bootleg made from the original (damaged) master tapes. The quality is fairly poor -- although listenable -- and Manfredini was not at all chuffed about it leaking. In fact, he was planning to re-record suites of music from Jason Lives and release it on CD, but after that bootleg turned up, he abandoned those plans. Quite a shame, actually.

Of course a disc with a better sound are largely welcome, but really even if Manfredini want a official cd, no label (or insane label) gone to spend a lot of money to Paramount for give a second life to the score of what?

It wouldn't have anything to do with Paramount. Manfredini owns the rights to his scores, and the ones he sales are no longer pressed. He sells them on CD-R via his website. (It's still possible to pick up the Varese Sarabande Jason X release, but as far as I know, they don't press the disc anymore, which is pretty much par for the course. Of course I could be wrong about that, but either way, Manfredini does sell it on CD-R via his website.)

So, actualy this bootleg don't forces him to abandoned anything... where did you read this fake infos please?

I got the information from Manfredini himself. I got in touch with him through his official website in 2006. And I know people who've chatted with him in person, and he's told them the same. Manfredini's a nice fellow, really keen to talk to his fans. I dunno why he'd lie to us about it. That's a bit of a head-scratcher.

I doubt we'll ever see any sort of official release of music from the sixth film (during our e-mail correspondence in 2006, he said that the source taps had sustained too much wear and tear over the last 20+ years to release a soundtrack from part VI.)

how do I search this thread for exact matches? if i do a search for example - All the Right Moves , The results come back with all posts with "all" , "the" , "right" & "moves" in it, Help please.

i just searched "moves".....only 13 results.....nothing.

i googled it too.......there was a soundtrack, but it came out when the movie was new in '83, so I'm guessing it's long out of print....and was probably never released on CD........so it's a tough one.

That would be much easier if you could actually search for phrases instead of individual words, which is all this search does. Using quotation marks on a name like in Google doesn't do squat with this site's search - it'll still search for every individual keyword. Quite frustrating sometimes.
