Regarding Linkin Park, I have always been ambivelant about the band. On one hand I really like the strong powerful vocals of Chester Bennington and the nice crunchy sound of the music but I have always disliked the rap element to most of the songs. But that's what most kids these days like so they go for the rap-rock or nu metal sound. What do I think of the new song? I like it, "What I've Done" from the first movie was one of the most memorable songs from the soundtrack and is probably why they were approached to collaborate with Mr. Zimmer. Hopefuly the movie will have a good story line and not just try to wow us with the CGI special effects.

don't worry zoran. take you're time! on an unrelated matter has the mars attacks expanded edition surfaced yet?

I am not aware of a expanded version but the complete version is quite good and a must have if you are a fan of the movie and Mr. Elfman. [Only registered and activated users can see links]

I like Linkin Park....yes they do have a fairly safe-hit single sound to them, but they're just so damned catchy. I don't have a problem with the rap elements of their style, infact they use it quite well and don't go for that silly tough-guy sound that Limp Bizkit used so horribly. As for Transformers? Well, it was fairly entertaining for the most part and yes, there were a few moments that were worthy a face-in-palms, but it was to be expected. I'm sure the sequel will have the same effect on me.....so I do look forward to a fun ride that will leave my ears ringing and my eyes wowed.
so i guess in the end Linkin Park and Transformers fit like a glove together. :)

well, i have the bootleg and it's done it's job for now...i don't know if it's the exact same one you have, but i find the quality to lack in a few spots.

besides when my music hisses at me every now and then it gives me the case of the wiggins

Well, isn't this a film score hunt thread? ;)

Again, yes, but several points:

1. There's been more than a few requests for soundtrack albums rather than purely scores lately.

2. There is, to my knowledge, no accompanying "Film Soundtrack Hunt Thread" for him to make the request.

3. He asked for the OST rather than the OS, which raised the spectre of ambiguity, the Devil's Volleyball.

Having searched this thread a few times, I know this question has been asked. I shall, however, ask it anyway: Does anyone have or know of a way of getting the soundtrack of the 1966 movie Thunderbirds Are Go? It doesn't have too many tracks on it, but they include "Astronauts in Trouble" and "Joie de Vivre". Also, if anyone knows of a "Gerry Anderson's New Captain Scarlet" soundtrack, that would be good too.

As for where to buy expanded promo scores, generally one doesn't. I've seen a guy at conventions (WizardWorld Philadelphia, to be specific) selling CDs of the sort of scores we trade around here (some the very scores we trade, in fact), but he was charging up to $40 per CD and I'm pretty sure that he's cranking them out on his home computer from the same mp3 files we download. The real expanded promos are generally handed out at Awards time by the composer or as the musical equivalent of prints in an artist's portfolio, and tend not to find their way into the hands of those outside the industry with regularity. That said, once in a while something turns up on eBay, but it's infrequent at best.

There's actually less on that promo score than there is on the commercial CD. Is it a different arrangement or orchestration or something to make it worth seeking out? I'm just baffled here.

I doubt it, the interesting thing are the track durations. The cues were cut for the official release, maybe this one features those unreleased portions. However, I've never seen this one on filesharing networks and would definitely like to hear the cues.

The weird thing is, I'm comparing it to the CD I have and the track times in the promo are all shorter than, or at most the same as, tracks of the same name on the official CD. "Saving Metroville", for instance, is cut from the commercial length of 5:03 down to 0:30! The only exception is "Meet Elastigirl" which is the one track not on the commercial CD and, judging by its placement on the promo, is likely the 2:00 cut from the promo's version of "Glory Days". The commercial release has a total running time of 55:34, and this promo is only 28:04. Again, unless the orchestration is phenomenally improved from the commercial release, this is striking me as a drastic step down. I'm still baffled.

It probably is nothing spectacular - a complete release with "Bob Vs. Omnidroid" or "Heading For Land" would be awesome. But we will know better if someone is able to get a copy of it. Maybe "Saving Metroville" is not a short version of the OST but an unreleased portion of the film version, I hope we will find out soon.

I found a booth at Comiccon where I bought a few promo scores that he says he gets directly from the academy members who don't want to keep them. As far as how legit they are, I'm not sure.

Yeah so this is not really complete at all, nor is it even really expanded. What someone has done is edit pieces from the official OST into shorter versions for some parts of tracks and also taken "alternates" of some music that appeared on other discs released with Goldenthals music, such as compilations or concert stuff. For example there is an "alternate" Main Title which is actually an edit of the Batman Suite from a piece that appeared on the Batman & Robin OST. There's also an Alien 3 track in here for some reason.

Really, if you have the official Batman Forever score, I'd avoid this.

This is another surprising score and
done very well, by Laura Karpman.
You will hear the Williams influence
in the wonderful theme.

A fine score - it is no wonder that
Spielberg went with her.

I highly recommend it.

It is 24 tracks, at 224kbps.

I hope you enjoy it.

Simcard, you do realize that you are endangering the links of the original poster by making all of his coded links "live". After posting the link to the original post at Katz you should have stopped there. I know that you want to share with us to make up for all that we have shared with you but this is in my view not the best way to do so.
