final fantasy 13 being in production was not announced until E3 this year. anything before that was just a rumor.

Andyuk

Nah, not the whole game, but "scenario work" whatever that is.
basic plot and settings?

PontiusPilate
06-19-2006, 09:38 PM
this may be just rumor so dont get up in my ass about it but i heard they were redoing alot of things like making the setting different and making the main character a boy

matt damon

the main character of FF13 is a girl. it's been confirmed.

the main character of FF versus 13 is a boy

Maybe they had been working from different departments or something, like one working on XII and the other on XIII

Denny
06-20-2006, 12:35 PM
Somehow i doubt it`s 80% complete. Considering this is the first time its been at E3 i suspect we`ll see it for the next two years at least before it`s released.

I wouldn't be too sure. They usually have gotten a pretty fast rate on their games, but they seem to have slowed down for FFXII, yet concerning the development rate FFXII went through at the points where progress was occuring and the many points in time where development was at a full fledged standstill, I'd say that much of FFXIII and FFXII were being developed simultaneously. I would say that 80% would be a gross exagerration, but 60-70% probably wouldn't be... Although my own opinion is that the game is probably between 25-40% on the programming side, 60-90% on the story side, and 20-30% on the production and development side. This estimate applies only to the first FFXIII game. I don't think the other two games are quite as far along yet.

Reuce_RedMage
06-21-2006, 01:11 PM
My question is: How can they be 80% done with a game for a system that isn't even out yet?

Sarah
06-21-2006, 01:21 PM
they have developer kits. they get a PS3 "beta version" long before the public does.

keene_face
06-21-2006, 02:51 PM
It isn't 80% complete. If you actually bother to read the artical, it says the scenario is 80% done. that's like the script. its how they want to tell there story, and how they want things to look. they said they've barly even started the game.

Sarah
06-21-2006, 03:56 PM
they imply that "scenerio work" means more than just story:

Motomu Toriyama, director of the main FFXIII title for the PS3, revealed to Gaimaga that scenario work for his project is 80% complete, <b>with the game's visual engine, running on actual PS3 hardware, being nearly finished.</b>

I do agree that "scenerio work" is odd phrasing and if not in that context could just refer to story.

I'm still waiting for XII to hit Oz... ha ha. I wonder how truthful that is though... or *being cynical* is it a ploy to hint at a PS3 launch title to boost Sony's camp? Hmm...

I was shot at over the last 9 months. i never did anything to those people. I had no problem with withdrawing. AND NO I DIDNT KILL ANYONE (I shoot to stop not to kill) except this one time i shot this guy in the shoulder and he blew up. later it was found he had enough C4 strapped to him to level our compound if he made it in. well thats my story any way I got alot of catching up to do so take it easy

why? there were some for 8 (i think). not sure about 9 or X. i don't remember seeing any. i loved seeing the X-2 commercials.

what i was surprised at was the fact that there were commercials for Advent Children

I do agree that "scenerio work" is odd phrasing and if not in that context could just refer to story.

i'm not sure exactly what it means, but i'm guessing it means getting character design, settings, plot and general stuff down on paper. Which would also means the 'actual' game has not been started (ie no coding or 3d models)

Zachron
06-28-2006, 08:26 PM
Parts of the game have probalby been started, but many of the specifics of the story are just now begining to take shape on the story board.

CodyC
06-29-2006, 12:14 AM
Sorry about the whole war thing, and you're right Bush is being a jerk, my bro's over there right now. In case you didn't know FF Advent Children is out in English now. Back on topic, I am going to have to say that scenario probably means setting, place, time (FF games are notorious for having hard to pinpoint timelines, like having swords, AND big robots and laserguns) and maybe even characters, but I doubt it's more than that, considering how much it would cost to make a game like FF, and then have to re-do it when the full system came out would suck. In case you never noticed, the Dev kits are pretty primitive compared to the finished system.

Hahaha.
Naw.

Knowing SE they will drag this FFXIII out for a while.

ff13 has been in production since the end of ff10 since it is the same team working on it
ffvs13 however is not that much ready since the kingdom hearts team are working on it and theyve only just finished KH2

It's more likely that the 'Lightning' in the trailer is an indication of some elemental or spell effect.

but why there are 4 FFXIII with sub name in PS3
ageto crystal versus and XIII itself...
is there any connect between them in storyline and characters...
are they all made by same directors and previous game-makers in SE
but they have good gamer and gameplay finally...

Don't even try. Dewentor seems to be one of those crazy people who speaks English as a second or third language, but speaks it so badly as to be unintelligible. People like that do not belong on English-speaking forums, so ignoring him/her/it is the best policy.

Fact is final fantasy has been using the same visual style since Final Fantasy X. The thing I was looking for most in 13 would be a different, fresher visual concept. Sad to say, it looks like 13, 12, 11, 10-2, and 10 all LOOK exactly the same.

The main character is not the chick that we've seen in the preview movie. The PS3 has been something that has been talked about and worked on for quite some time, so it does not surprise me that XIII is almost done. Considering that there hasn't been a mainstream FF released since 10, almost 5 years ago.

Game was in development along with FF12.They had already completed 60% of game on ps2 by the time they got PS3 kits. They shifted the freanchise on PS3.I thin that 60% included all production, art, design, music and battle system.
All they needed after that is to upgrade graphics hich they did uptill now making it 80% complete.
If it will be able to make it even by end of next year,i will be owned.
DMC4,MGS4 and THiS=Halo 3 bye bye along with white box.

FFXII was delayed because of the producer quitting square-enix and moving to Mistwalker. FFXIII has a much better chance of making it out much faster. Besides, dont you thing Squeenix will want something for us FF fans to drool over on our new PS3s? Q4 of 07, my guess, we will have a (another) new FF game.

Edit: Im an idiot, see next post from me for real info

FFXII was delayed because of the producer quitting square-enix and moving to Mistwalker.

Sakaguchi wasn't ever the producer or director of Final Fantasy XII.

Also, he founded, not moved, to Mistwalker. Key difference.

Finally: Blue Dragon looks pretty crap :(

My info was misdirected, i apoligise for that. The REAL info is Yasumi Matsuno was struck with an illness and all things went on halt. This shouldnt happen with FFXIII however, hopefully. And yes, BD does look a little bad (Okage Shadow king meets brave fencer mushasi, in a bad way) Music is good though!

Well I can see some of you are clueless lol

first off the system doesnt have to be out most of the Launch day titles for PS3 were finished back in the spring of 2006 , they just had minor tweaks while they waited,

and Second the main programmering and engine for FFXIII was originally meant for (started on the PS2 platform) but square decide to go with PS3 oncewm ore info and programming was avialbe to them cause they wanted to up the game big time graphics wise and stuff.

As for FFXII it suffered more delays then any FF game ever which is why it took so long ,. and FFXIII was started in late 2004 early 2005 , (just because it wasn't annouched until E3 2006 doesnt mean it wasnt started already)

Also Sqaure has offically slated Dec 2007 as the relase for this game in Japan making the NA release about 6mths later (due to translation)

If you look hard enough you can find this info online one soucre is IGN another is gamepro or you can go out and Buy the Collectors Edition of FFXII and watch an Interveiw with one of the Head guys involved wit hFFXII talking about it and mention some of what i have mentioned

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

I dunno about anyone else put FFXIII right now is the main reason i plan on getting a PS3

Alvinz
12-14-2006, 02:32 AM
Like the new guy above me stated, FFXIII was orignally being designed and developed for PS2 - which would of been cool. They could of like had FFXII and FFXIII dual release!

But since they started developing for PS3 - they had to start off from near scratch. The only thing they kept was some of their philosophies and their character designs.

Now they are developing the White Engine, which will over the time become more and more refined and different tools would be used in different Square Enix games, which is currently around 80% complete.

In an recent IGN article, S-E states that FFXIII was 18% complete, and FFVersusXIII was like 1.8% pecent complete. They are also still doing experiments to see the PS3's full potential. I can safely say that S-E will be the one to show the world how powerful the PS3 Really is.

Once the white engine is completed, then progress should kick in really, really fast. Planned release date was either 2008 or 2009.

Tparsons5150
12-14-2006, 10:17 AM
Actually the current set release date for FFXIII is DEC 2007 according to the latest IGN.COM info that i have read in the past few days

so yer,im new,and so yer, does anyone remember what was said,i think it was at E3 '06,i cant rem where, but the team that worked on all those extras games and what not for FFVII are now working on the extra games and stuff for FFXIII,so maybe FFXIII is 80% done, but the key word is whatever that 80% is,i cant remember it,damn, but they have been workin on it for awhile, and your lucky, your all gonna get it before me anyhow, livin in freakin uk,i just want FFXII atm,id be happy with that for now,or a ps3,or a wii, damn you all,FFXIII will come out eventually, and it wont be this year for def, chances are might be end of next year, but in reality it will be '08/'09,and when you question about the release,do you mean the series or just the main game, thee actualy Final Fantasy XIII.

for the person who said x,x-2,xi,xii,xiii all look the same, well if your complainin about looks then play those ff games you havent played, and keep playin them over and over again, fact is,games are 3d,sequels,prequels,all games are going to look alike, its a bit like life, everythin looks the same,if you dont like it then you know what you can do.

ok,end of first post,ciao
