game could be beaten in at least 4 hours if you know where your going. in order to get 100% you have to do the most pointless things. FFX's intro was a destruction of an entire city, while X-2 was a pop concert. NO BLITZBALL. coin sphere game was so stupid. The only location that was new was Kilika port and the top of mount gagazet. everything elses was completely used again from FFX!!!

oh yea that game. I remember it took me like 4 tries to beat shinra. omg he's so hard.

Ohh boy, I was expecting better then that, no idea why......

game could be beaten in at least 4 hours if you know where your going.

So? Is it SE fault you have to have a 50hr game because you don't have a social life? What matters is that the game has a decent cohesive story, which it did. A good battle system, which it did. Also, to get 100% will take a hell of lot longer then 4 hours.

in order to get 100% you have to do the most pointless things.

Such as?

FFX's intro was a destruction of an entire city, while X-2 was a pop concert.

So what? It's a different game with a different atomesphere you idiot.

NO BLITZBALL. coin sphere game was so stupid.

There is blitzball, how is Sphere Break stupid?

The only location that was new was Kilika port and the top of mount gagazet. everything elses was completely used again from FFX!!!

Farplane Abyss
Via Infinito
Den of Woe
New areas in:

Gagazet
Guadosalam
Besaid
Zanarkand
Bikanel Island

Shall I continue?

game could be beaten in at least 4 hours if you know where your going.
Not under normal circumstances. You would have to be doing some insane speed run to get that time.

in order to get 100% you have to do the most pointless things.
New game plus allows to skip some most of the more redundant ones. The game wasn't supposed to be 100% completed in one sitting. It’s not as if you need to get 100% anyway; it’s a bonus for people who can be bothered to go to the effort.

FFX's intro was a destruction of an entire city, while X-2 was a pop concert.
FFX started with a bunch of guys sitting around a camp fire iirc.

NO BLITZBALL.
There clearly was.

coin sphere game was so stupid.
As opposed to the fantastic mini games in previous games like lightning dodging?

The only location that was new was Kilika port and the top of mount gagazet. everything elses was completely used again from FFX!!!
Funny that, being the same world. Most of the areas were expanded to a degree anyway.

OK no monster ARENA!!!

Comsphere is stupid as hell . And you need to see some stupid shyt inorder to get a fraction of a percentage. Like watch the shoopufs in the hotspring.

you can classify an area where you just go around a spiral of random battles and area. Im talking a new city!!

I did beat this game on 100 % and my file was 49 hours. This game is long only if you have the patience to do the most stupidest shyt ever.

Traveling to every temple and fighting the aeons was a complete dead shot.
I totally saw that coming. Just an excuse to fight a boss. Chocobo ranching is so clumsy and stupid its almost usless.

NO SUMMONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No limit breaks or overdrives.

Cmon give up already

Comsphere is stupid as hell . And you need to see some stupid shyt inorder to get a fraction of a percentage. Like watch the shoopufs in the hotspring.

You can also progress the story, talk to several characters and have a bit of a laugh, also it varies the gameplay a bit.

Oh yeah, a new city within 2 years.....fucking moron

I did beat this game on 100 % and my file was 49 hours. This game is long only if you have the patience to do the most stupidest shyt ever.

And 49hrs isn't long enough for you? What kind of arguement is that against the game? Oh, and what happened to 4hrs?

Traveling to every temple and fighting the aeons was a complete dead shot.
I totally saw that coming. Just an excuse to fight a boss. Chocobo ranching is so clumsy and stupid its almost usless.

Oh yeah, and every FF except this one is totally unpredictible:rolleyes:

You haven't come up with one decent arguement against the game, your talking complete and utter shite my friend.

Edit: To attack the game because it doesn't have summons is bordering on pure stupidity. Also, it does have limit breaks(not quite limit breaks per se), but a similar concept.

Uhh if you have ever played any other FF they have these monsters that help you during battle. Maybe you've heard of them. There called SUMMONS STUPID SHYT!!!

The first two FF games seemed to get on fine without summons, and the first 5 were fine without limit breaks. Monster Arena was in FFX only. Honestly, you're acing as if FFX is the epitome of gaming and the fact that FFX-2 wasn't an exact clone makes it worthless.

in two years they completely re did kilika. In two years they did all that. That is enough time to rebuild a city now that sin is gone. stupid fuck

There would be no logical reason for them to build a new city. Kilika was rebuilt because it was destroyed. Also, the amount of effort and resources it would take to rebuild a city is miniscule compared to what it would take to build one from scratch.

Hey. Check it out--another idiotic FFX-2 flamer. Oh, and look, another flamer using the same tired, pointless, and superficial gripes! You know--I have yet to hear a reason why FFX-2 is so bad. By the way, I'm really not bother to read any of the arguement for the sake of horrible grammar, caps locks, and lots of exclaimation points. Most of you (i.e The shriners I love oh so much) are exempt from this crap because you can form complete sentence and make sense. Congrats, have a Turkey Sub from Quiznos.

My conclusion; Final Fantasy X-2 pwns people in the face much like I will when I hit Level 40 with my Human Priest on Warcraft, all hail Shadowform and a damn mount. Hordie Hunter x10 to the max!

X-3? Is that really true???
I hope not. I can't afford to buy every single final fantasy that they streamline out of their company just because it sells.
Where oh where would they take the plot line this time? Another look into the fascinating history of Spira? Another vengeful villain? Or maybe more squealy girl fun missions tied around a dying plot? Will they further debaucher Yuna's character? Will their clothes get any skimpier? Will they start putting in hip hop and take out chocobos, moogles and good old fashoned ability learning for the fun fun fun of dresspheres.
If boys (and girls) want to play with girls in games and change dress-spheres to dark attack that unholy critter, do it to another game than the holy X, because the more tireless sequils you make for it, the more it suffers against the other classics!!!

I did semi enjoy the game though. Rant over.

X-3? Is that really true???

Nope, this thread is infact an ironic joke.

Will they further debaucher Yuna's character?

How is Yuna's character 'debaucer' as you so elegantly put it?

Will their clothes get any skimpier? Will they start putting in hip hop and take out chocobos, moogles and good old fashoned ability learning for the fun fun fun of dresspheres.

The dressphere system is actually a really good and innovative idea and it works.

If boys (and girls) want to play with girls in games and change dress-spheres to dark attack that unholy critter, do it to another game than the holy X, because the more tireless sequils you make for it, the more it suffers against the other classics!!!

Yey, someone to argue with. =)

At first, Yuna was really very noble and strong, and I grew rather fond of her. Then they put her in hot pants.. wha? And gave her tomb raider guns. Whaa??? And two smexy sidekicks- though Paine is a awesome character, she's me personified.

The dress-spheres were a good idea, but they didn't do anything for me. I'm more of an old style ff lover, even the sphere grid was a massive change for me, one I liked immensely, mind you.

The dress-spheres... kind of reminded me of Sailor Moon... which I likes in the morning on GMTV, but not in my precious new FF game. That said, I did enjoy the game, it just felt... like it wasn't a true ff game, not completely, anyway.

That arguement doesn't hold any weight at all. Looks are irrelevant, what is relevant is a cohesive, well paced story, which X-2 has. Yuna still has nobility and mental strength in abudance, but this game is all about the changes in Yuna, however she retains her best traits. Also, whats wrong with scantly clad females, would you prefer if they went around in over-coats??

The dress-spheres were a good idea, but they didn't do anything for me. I'm more of an old style ff lover, even the sphere grid was a massive change for me, one I liked immensely, mind you.

Fair enough, but I thought the dress-sphere system was quite excellent, also it's original and innovative.

That's the point you see, it's not meant to be like the other FF's. It's meant to be a foil to FFX, and would you rather every FF be the same? That is again irrelevant, fact of the matter is it's an excellent game and bashing the way the characters look isn't going to hold any water whatsoever.

MissNox
06-14-2006, 05:00 PM
Scanty clad females??? Not on my watch of ff decency to female players, mr! =) Yuna can change without being turned into a ditzy girly girl. And there's nothing wrong with overcoats. They're warm. The one costume I did like was Paine's, she was hard core!

True, maybe my oldy mind can't grasp such wild changes on the first game I ever played. Though the MOOGLE dress-sphere gives me no end of pleasure.

Jugs hold water, not statements in an debate...=p
And lets face it, why not make all the final fantasies the same? I like having to go from a to b to meet the locals, save the town from disaster and chase a damn chocobo man half way across the globe<seethes>

And I like the occassional, 'you can't go here yet'- WHY NOT?! I wanna!

But I suppose you can go everywhere in X-2 because you've pretty much been everywhere in the previous one, except secret areas... like being able to go to Yevon's capital!! Yessss!!! Would the same ideas be praised in a seperate final fantasy? If so, why have most of the changes made (except for real time battling) been abandoned mostly in the new ff?

But don't get me wrong, X-2 was fun. It just won't be a classic in my opinion.

Wow, actually no relevant counters to my points at all. You just seem rather confused.

Symbolic of what, exactly? I like delving into the mindset and story of characters just as much as the next person. I get it, believe me.

Now get this. Yuna goes on journey and falls in love. Tidus also falls in love with her too. The only reason she starts the journey is to find him.

However, when she finds him ,she's a completely different person to who he fell in love with, he seems happy with it...too happy. Don't you care that all the qualities that made you fall in love with her in the first place are now mostly gone????

And I'm trying to say that change is good. Lots of the changes in x-2 were good. All female characters, the prospect of a different kind of ability learning system, and being able to go wherever you want... but changing those things will dissapoint some people who would have also liked a sequil that was a little more serious. Just a little teeny bit more...like less girly giggling and crazy spa scenes... O_o

Emo- fests? I laugh at your shoddy interpretation!

So here come the insults from a perfect debate...sighs at the sadness of it. All those nice relevant points gone in a single post of pointless me-bashing.

Well, I said that most of her traits are gone, and maybe you are missing the point. I like the game, I'm only questioning whether or not the changes to it make it as good as the other final fantasies.

And there's nothing wrong with lighthearted games, but X-2 was a giant party that everyone was invited to but many fans just didn't enjoy.

You miss the whole point of forum if everybody felt the same way about it, what would be the point in talking about them?

I don't see how I abuse the english language at all.

For a game that is meant show how sad Yuna is that Tidus is gone, it may be a littletoo over the top. Just remember the sad ending of X and their seperation- and fast forward straight to a frilly songstress outfit and pop music.

Well, I said that most of her traits are gone, and maybe you are missing the point.

And what is that point exactly? Do give examples of what traits are lost. It's obvious that she has retained her strength of character, she's simply more out-going and more expressive. Yuna hasn't lost a thing, point infact she's gained a lot.

I like the game, I'm only questioning whether or not the changes to it make it as good as the other final fantasies.

They obviously are, as this game sold in very good numbers and 9/10 people on here adore it.

And there's nothing wrong with lighthearted games, but X-2 was a giant party that everyone was invited to but many fans just didn't enjoy.

'Many fans'? No, just idiots that bitch that it 'doesn't feel like a FF' or think it's a flashy dress-up game or some bullshit like that.

There you go with that whole 'miss the point' bullshit again. I understand perfectly what forums are for, thank you.

The fact i've struggled hugely to figure out what exactly your trying to say might prove that perhaps, although your last few posts have been better.

How can you complain about measly exclamation marks when you can't stand posting without quoting every point I make? It doesn't make yours any more relevant, I'm afraid.

I think that Yuna lost a little of my respect. That's what. I like the girl, and I think it was great that she was happy, I just think that almost everyone I talk to would have preferred a more serious sequil.

Maybe 9/10 people here liked the game, but I doubt 9/10 people would have thought it was one of the best final fantasies ever made. It's up there, I'll grant you, but even if the graphics are better, even if it has revolutionary ideas for a final fantasy, it still won't be a classic like 6,7, or 10.

And sales have nothing to do with it. Lots of people brought crystal chronicals, and then gave them back. I even own X-2 myself, so it doesn't mean that everyone who brought it loved everything about it.

And you really shouldn't have bothered replying to the last quote you put up there, it was a waste of my time reading it as it means absolutely nothing at all.

Wouldn't this place be fun if everybody replied like you and only found solace in being able to trash other's comments.

I've made my points quite clear, and you don't have to agree with them, and I've also managed to do so without saying that your replies are 'bullshit' and without saying that people with different opinions are 'idiots' and that they're just 'bitching'. If everyone liked everything about the game, enix would just make 10 ff7s - and if everyone loved everything about X-2, they would just make al their future games like that. They havn't.

It means you STILL haven't understood my point, so I just gave up.

Wouldn't this place be fun if everybody replied like you and only found solace in being able to trash other's comments.

You'll find that's exactly what this place is like, indeed i'm way down on the ladder when it comes to harshness. Also, this is a public forum, if someone doesn't agree with your views, they will challenge them, if your not comfortable with that, then this place isn't for you.

I've made my points quite clear

What points are those? Oh yes, the one about Yuna, that didn't hold up very well did it?

If everyone liked everything about the game, enix would just make 10 ff7s - and if everyone loved everything about X-2, they would just make al their future games like that. They havn't.

What??

Hehe, not this is what I'm talking about! I'm afraid that Diablo has my vote here because his arguments are by far a lot stronger than yours I'm afraid. I liked everything about FFX-2, except I'm having trouble getting 100%, but someone helped me with that and I'm currently testing to see if it works. I liked the dressphere's because it gave me a more strategic edge compared to other FF games because you can change the job of each character during battles. And I was always intrested in what kinds of costumes each job would have. As for the whole Yuna losing her traits, I'm afraid I will have to go with Diablo on this one. There's a very big hint when you hear her thoughts that she's still the same Yuna from FFX on the inside, but she's trying to be like normal people on the outside. Plus, if I lost someone I loved and suddenly were reunited after two years, I could care less how they changed because their old characteristics will still remain, as Yuna's had.

BTW, don't bother challenging my views of the game as you will recieve nothing from me. So it will just be a waste of time if you do.

I have never in being a member many forums, seen anyone quote 6 times and just reply with 'wtf' or 'sigh' or 'what???'

But just so I can finally stop this pointless, one sided argument out of a simple opinion, I will lay out how I feel about X-2

FFX2, the first ever sequil to a final fantasy game. Oh, god make it a good one! Hmm, not bad, all basic final fantasy stuff is there... except... some things make me crindge...

Yuna is wearing those hot pants and I immediantly think- Tomb Raider ripoff. The only excuse they have of making her dress in that is to attract a certain audience to her long slender legs.

Sphere changing is a good idea, but changing dresses in the middle of a battle and battling with a pet monkey in hardly final fantasy. Plus, having to watch Yuna change 5 times even in short mode so you can get to that damned whitemage dress- sphere and heal your party is hardly a bush of roses.

Where's the good old, just have all the abilities in one place. At all times. But in order to use white magic you have to waste an equipment slot, and then you can only have two. I spent all that time mastering every technique, and now I can only use 3 types at once or I have to waste a turn changing?!

So where's the dress-sphere battling idea now? Have they used any of the ideas in X-2 that wern't in the other final fantasies? None of those that make me want to take the game and throw it into a chasm.

Why end X like that? You know they just made up this VEGNAGUN to make a new game. And the aeons coming back? What the hell was that all about?! You spend 100 hours preparing to kill the bastards and then they just bring them back and you beat them in 10 seconds?!

Make a new game and change Yuna completely. Make new characters. Make new plot out of old stuff where Tidus' wierdy clone causes havoc and Tidus himself (the only reason there is a sequil is out is because of his cliffhanger dissapearance)- and you have a sequil...that is final fantasy 10-2, enjoyable but utterly pointless.

I only brought it to see what happened to Tidus, and for a final fantasy, that is sad. Why do you think advent children isn't a game?

There. I'm done, this has been a fantastical waste of my time. I feel like I've been talking to a copying machine. And now you are free to look at what I bothered typing. I can ow go to sleep.

Remember, you kept coming back. Also as to why Advent Children wasn't a game: everyone wanted to do a movie instead of a game. Simply put.

You make very fair points. And you just say them how they are, that's all I wanted when I first posted here, actually, rather than being called an idiot, a sheep, talking bullshit- I came here to talk about a game I've always really liked but to discuss faults. Not to get into a huge broohaha. Thanks- and I agree on the point about Yuna too. =)

This isn't your every day forum, you'll discover, should you decide to stick around. Also, if your previous posts actually made some clear points, there wouldn't be any need for the 'wtf' etc.

Yuna is wearing those hot pants and I immediantly think- Tomb Raider ripoff. The only excuse they have of making her dress in that is to attract a certain audience to her long slender legs.

What kind of an argument is that? Tifa wore a mini-skirt, Selphie was every bit as scantly-clad as Yuna, were those two games trying 'to attact a certain audience'. That isn't an argument against the game, it's an argument against testosterone, if you were a guy i'd call a homosexual faggot.

Again, this isn't any kind of argument. And you don't have to watch Yuna change 5 times.....

Where's the good old, just have all the abilities in one place. At all times. But in order to use white magic you have to waste an equipment slot, and then you can only have two. I spent all that time mastering every technique, and now I can only use 3 types at once or I have to waste a turn changing?!

It's called strategy. I much preferred x-2 system to the infantile difficulty level of previous FF game's. Sure, X-2 was fairly straightfoward, but at least it required a modicum of tactics and thinking.

So where's the dress-sphere battling idea now? Have they used any of the ideas in X-2 that wern't in the other final fantasies? None of those that make me want to take the game and throw it into a chasm.

What kind of nonsense is this? You say you like the game, then you make a statement like that? Also, you haven't once mentioned the battle system itself, which is the best of any FF game. It is fast-paced, high-octane and enjoyable and rewards players for thinking about the timing of their attacks, rather then just mindlessly bashing X.

Why end X like that? You know they just made up this VEGNAGUN to make a new game. And the aeons coming back? What the hell was that all about?! You spend 100 hours preparing to kill the bastards and then they just bring them back and you beat them in 10 seconds?!

It's called a tragic ending, and it's contrasted by X-2. X-2 is a total mirror of X in terms of atomesphere, emotion and feeling.

What kind of rubbish is that? X-2 is not pointless at all, it proved that SE can create a different type of FF game, it proved that the genre has not gone stale with new, innovative combat and battle systems, and to say all X-2 is just 'Tidus wierdy clone causes havoc', as you so elegantly put it, is a total and outright lie.

Why do you think advent children isn't a game?

Because it's an abomination of a film perhaps?

You misunderstand, no-one gets slagged for saying they enjoy a certain game, no-one has a problem with that, that's my stance and i'm sure every other reasonable persons. What I can't tolerate is people posting bullshit about something, that is when someone has to intervene. Crap like 'FF7 is teh bezt!!", "ffx-2 is a dress-up game with no story" etc deserves abuse. Take yourself for example, you say you like FF7, that's fine, fair play to you, just don't go around posting crap like it's the best game ever and all that crap. Also, your only a young kid, no-one will be too harsh on you, with age you'll learn. I myself was very fond of FFVII for a long time, but with age and maturity I realised it's flaws.

I'd just like to pop in here and make a couple quick points that other people may not have considered. Feel free to add them to the ongoing discussion.

Regarding Yuna's character: A lot of people said that the changes in Yuna's character were too drastic. This is entirely wrong. It is not unheard of at all for a person who's been through a traumatic experience to undergo significant changes in their personality. These can take several forms. One is the everyday emo woe-is-me self-pity type changes. Another is driven by the desire to move forward and adapt, making changes to oneself in order to more easily accept the changes around them. Figuring this, the changes in Yuna's character are not only acceptable, but perfectly natural.

About the world: I've also seen people complain about how the world changed too much and how everything is so happy-go-lucky. There's a precedent for that. After a period of turmoil with a favorable outcome, it's natural for a society to go on a bit of a high. Just look at America in the 1950's for an example. It was a time with a big feeling of innocence and growth. However, beneath the surface, some of the most barbaric political battles of the century were being waged. FFX-2 was a very good reflection of that.

That's a great point, never occured to me. Let's see people bash Yuna's character now. As for the whole 1950's America comparison, I don't know enough about 1950's America to comment on it, although I agree with the whole thing about being on a high after such a long era of death, misery and suffering. Seems perfectly natrual to me, i'd be pretty pleased that I could sleep safe at night, knowing that my town isn't going to be decimtated.

Maybe it was originally, but there were still bits of good discussion in it.

Anyway, why don't you tell what you thought made Yuna such a bad character? I'll agree that the character was a bit shallow in FFX, but FFX-2 took those shallow elements from the original and drilled more depth out of them than I would have thought possible.

Well during both FFX annd X-2 i just didn`t connnect with her in any way. I just didn`t feel anything towards her. In FFX i didn`t feel any sympathy for her while in X-2 i thought she was a characteer that was created for 14 year old girls.

Now i`ll be the first to stand up and say i was wrong about my prejudice about X-2 but the characters are not what interested me. In fact, as far as FFX-2 goes i felt it was a low point as far as characters go.

Have to admit I didn't think that in FFX that she was the most original character. I got the general feeling that certain aspects of her personality were copied over from previous FF characters.

Still on the other hand I thought she was an improvement on both Tifa and Rinoa and found her to be alot more interesting in the sequel. =)

in ffx-2, she looks more matured through her speech and behaviour...

it's just that the gunner costume doesn't suit her...

IDX

I think I too prefer her in FFX-2 than FFX because to me, she tended to keep a lot to herself. Like when she said when she's sad, she practiced to smile. But in FFX-2, she expresses them differently now, like through the music she would sing sometimes. So in a way, I think she acts more human than a cyborg :p.

Nightowl9910

I liked the fact that at least she wasn't throwing herself at some guys feet, desperate to be rescued by some knight in shining armour for a change lol.

You got that to an extent with both Tifa and Rinoa and I started to find it boring after a while. I played FF10 before playing FF9, so for me Yuna was a welcome change, although I found her a little similiar to Aeris. Still I quite liked Aeris as a character (while she lasted) so that didn't bother me much. =)
