Hmmm, that was sad, sure,.. but I feel the scene with Celes on the Solitary Island in the World of Ruin in FFVI was sader...

Esepcially, when she attempts suicide by throwing herself off the cliff after Cid dies. It really strikes home her hopelessness and despair. *sniff*

aeris' death was the saddest thing that happened in the history of final fantasy for me though.

The ending to Final Fantasy X was very sad indeed. But I have beaten FFIX lately and I would have to say that is the saddest ending. I say this because of Vivi stopping and because I thought Zidane would be gone forever.

no!you spoiled the ending!!!!!!!! i'm at memoria right now, fighting trance kuja.

anyways, the ending of X was soooooo sad. especially yuna's speach. love her last words, which are "all the people we've lost, all the dreams that have faded......never forget them."

oh, and Laguna visiting Raine's grave was also very sad. i felt so.....choked up.

I gotta say the ending of FF7 is sadder. Aeries died man !!!! That was really really sad, but I was more in shock when that happened then I became sad. The FFX ending was sad too, to see that Yuna was lefted alone.

There are three scenes that I all found really sad, and I can't pick one to be the saddest.
For starters- Aeris' death, because she was such an innocent character and did nothing to deserve it.
Also- Thinking Zidane was dead, because he would have never have gotten to be with Dagger.
And-1000 Words, I haven't cried from an FF game, but this certainly got me the closest to it, I found watching htem getting shot pretty devastating.

I gotta say Aeris death didnt make me sad. When you saw cloud drop her in the water that made me feel kinda sad.

Also 1000 words where they get shot is pretty emotional as the song complements it well

Chaos And Fist
05-23-2005, 09:39 PM
Yes, then end of FF9 was sad...

Oh no, I don't mean in the tear-jerking kind of way. I mean in the, "NO WAY, YOU WERE DEAD, DAMN IT! I WATCHED YOU DIE!" kind of way. What I'm trying to say is that the end of FF9 was CORNY. You can't tell me it wouldn't have been better if monkey-man had stayed dead.

Oh, and I'm just going to add that no moment in any video game had me close to tears. Well, not tears of sadness, anyway. Lady Yunaleska in FFX had me chucking the controller...

The sadest part is when Edge (of FF IV) had to kill his very own parents after they where transformed into a pair of horrendous creepy monsters and his mother (a roach like monster) was saying to edge that she loved him

Not to mention when Palom and Porom turn themselves to stone in order to save Baron Castle from collapsing. Talk about pulling on the emotional heartstrings.. :(

When you talk to Jecht knowing you have to kill him, and Tidus never got the chance how much he loved him, when Zidane appears again ( how i wanted him to begone), Whenever the song Someday the Dream Will End is played that song is just amazing, when Cloud puts Aeris in the lake, Shuyin's part, when tidus discovers that Yuna would die, and the part where Zidane thinks he is all alone, by the previous posts some of the old FF had heavy parts!!!!

07-15-2005, 09:58 PM
Aeris was an over-rated character anyway, I still don't see how a bunch for Digital Art can make a army of fanboys go up in arms with the games programing.

The Saddest parts of Final Fantasys were

FFII: From what I've played so far, when Josef threw himself a boulder to save the party (He was such a useful and powerful character)
FFIV: When Palom and Porom turned into stone to save Cecil and Company, and when Edge has to kill his parents
FFVII: When Cloud puts Aeris in the water, and the part where cloud reilazed that his entire memory of his life was all fake, it wasn't all that sad, but it had emotional value
FFIX: Can't really remember, but near the end, when Zidane came back
FFX: The Ending Sceen
FFX-2: 1000 words, I almost came close to being about to cry.

So explain to me this, Tidus is a dream of the fayth.... does that mean he is an aeon representing Shuyin, pretty much like yojimbo? or what? because its confusing!

Tidus Faded because he was a dream of the faith. As I'm sure you well know, the faiths dream about the 1000 year old Zanarkand, the buildings, the people,..
And tidus is one of them. But when Yuna killed her aeons, it woke the faiths and they stopped dreaming and so did Tidus vanish. He wasn'T an aeon but lived because of them.

yeah, i guess that's right. but it's a very broad answer. i'm going to see if i can find a post i did many, many months ago about this very topic.

HA! found it! took a while, but i did it. here is the post:

Shuyin and Lenne are from Zanarkand 1000 years ago.now, when Lenne died, Shuyin's rage and depression formed into a "ghost" of him, if you will. Tidus is a dream of the Fayth.the Fayth had to dream in order for there to be summoning. and, as a result of this, Sin always came back.so, to solve this, Yuna sent all the Fayth to the Farplane, and now Sin won't come back. now, back to Tidus and Shuyin. the Fayth's dream was BASED on the Zanarkand 1000 years ago.they based Tidus off of Shuyin, who was from Zanarkand 1000 years ago. Tidus may look like him, but his personality is different because of the dream being only as a guideline. Tidus was able to develope and change differently. also, who knows, maybe Shuyin was like Tidus when he was with Lenne.the reason that Tidus was able to go into the real Spira was because Sin came into the dream and got him and sent him to the real Spira(although, they don't really explain how Sin is able to do this) i don't know why Lenne and Yuna look alike. maybe it was destiny and fate.

[Only registered and activated users can see links]! stop! you'Re mixing things. ffx is not related to ffx-2. They didn't know there would be a sequel when they made ffx, so therefore it'S impossible that tidus is related to shuyin. and shuyin does NOT look like tidus at all. neither did yuna. Don'T complicate things.

the question was about tidus and his relation to shuyin. and if you read the post, i clearly said that they were not related(i'm assuming that you mean by blood). also, keep in mind that this post was a response to a different thread, so some of it may not fit in the context of the question. and yes, shuyin looks like tidus. how else would yuna get him confused.

Wasn't sin peoples punishment for using machina in war and then it was kept alive by yu yevon and the final aeon, whoever that previously was? I could, very easily, be totally wrong though

Tidus's Self sacrifice at the end of 10. No one else that I can recall became marter. Aeris's death saved the world and she became part of the life stream. to me her death was triumphant in that she helped save the world, though sad none-the-less.. I mean Tidus had to kill himself just for a chance, not even a guarantee to save the world. and in x-2 he does not come back, that is not him, that is someone else using his form. the people that get shot are not yuna and tidus they are two different people. The spirit just confuses Yuna with the woman he loved if i remember correctly.
please correct me if i'm wrong. I played them all since nintendo 1st came out and I get them mixed a lil sometime.. I know the special ending has something to it though and I forget what that was..
as for sin if i remember correctly you are right in some ways.. the yu-yevon teachins tried to make people believe sin was punishment but in reality it really came down to one prik sitting down in the dungeon sucking up all the aeons power to bring himself back to life. Sin was in fact Tidus's father, and Tidus would in turn become sin to appease sin in his sacrifice. Somewhere in there Tidu's mind manages to survive to some extent though, somewhere in the lifestream because he meets yuna again in the end of ffx-2. so at least that makes me happy.. They finally got to be together in some way at least.

No ending from FF1 all the way to FFx-2 and I have ff12 just havent beaten it yet, has made me as sad as that ending did.. It just felt like there was a big void created in the hearts of the whole party.. I mean Tidus, the main guy is now dead.. He had to kill himself and watch the woman he loved as he did so knowing he would never get to hold her again.. And Yuna the whole time tried to stop him but she couldn't.. She just had to watch the man she loved kill himself and he had to turn around one last time just before he did... just to look at her and let her know everything would be ok..

Aeris' death was the saddest thing in Final Fantasy for me.

Aeris was one of my best characters, and like others have said, she was just so innocent and didnt deserve that to happen. The scene itself was rather shocking, its the death in general that is sad, especially when Cloud puts her in the water. Brings a tear to my eye.

There wasn't a scene in any ff that put a tear in my eye, but if i was to pick a sad moment. It would preoably be Galufs death, and Tellah's death. Galuf becaue he fought to the very end(literally), and Tellah finally acknowledged Edward's love for his daughter.

SPOILER
Final Fantasy Tactics - End of chap 1 when Teta died and later on when Ramza is forced to fight and kill his brothers, particularly because I didn't want Zalbag to die.
END SPOILER

Not gonna bother with spoiler tags for the rest because they've already been mentioned.

FFVI - Cyan saying goodbye to his family in the Mystic Forest. Celes jumping off the cliff.
KH - the ending. The whole layout of the ending was well-done, particularly Kairi looking at the drawings in the secret place.

As for Aeris' death, that really didn't bother me. She annoyed me throughout the whole duration of the game (while she was alive). The ending to FFX wasn't particularly heart-wrenching either, due mostly in part to Yuna's bad voice acting and for the fact that the chemistry between Yuna and Tidus seemed forced. Operation Mii'hen was much sadder. The desperate wishes of the crusaders and the al bhed crushed in a single blow was very poignant.

The end of FFX was sad but FFX-2 kinda nulified it all. Aeris death was kinda surprising I never cried for it but it was kinda sad.

Always makes me wonder how I can hate Tidus so much but be sad when he dies (Don't eveb like Yuna that much, her voice annoys me so much...)

I distinctly remember the death of Aeris (North American version of her name) but I can not really remember how FFX ended. I finished the game, but had ample distractions in life to pay very close attention to the ending.

I do recall that Tidus was a creation of imagination, in a manner of speaking, and that this fact did make me feel saddened. However, I can't remember exactly how the game ended. I kind of recall that Tidus and Yuna had become close, and that they shared an intimate moment there at the end. This was the primary focus of FFX-2, Yuna attempting to re-release Tidus (if I recall correctly).

But I still find myself whistling the tunes from FFVII, especially Aeris' theme.

The saddest part of FFVIII was the games creation...lol
I'm not a big fan of that installment.

I would say that when Lavos absorbs Schala, that is the saddest...

...oh, right, FF. Well, what can I say? I would like to be original, but the honest answer is the death of Aeris. A lot of people who played the game back in the day are still reeling from that one. Advent Children didn't make it any easier on us, either!

To me:

The ending of IV (when the moon detaches from the main planet) was kinda sad.

Galuf dying and the ending in V was sad.

The opera house scene, Cyan's family leaving on the Phantom Train, and the cutscene following Wrexsoul's defeat in VI was really sad)

Aeris' dying and funeral in VII at the end of Disc 1 was very sad.

i didnt see aeriths death coming, so that hit hard from ff7. especially when you inadverdantly almost kill her yourself just before. and then later you see her ghost in the church and remember what happened that far into the game.
I actually knew of her death beforehand from flipping forward in the strategy guide *is naughty*, but cried anyway. It was suprisingly sad for me.

Well my heart breaking moments are in FF-7 first when Wedge, Biggs and Jessie have been buried alive and of course in Aerith's Death but it was more Cloud's actions and thoughts that made me very sad and the fact that next u could get to kick Jenova's ass with Aerith's Theme playing was emotional and heroic... Good Moments!
