View Full Version : So... The Guy in The Sphere (*NOT* For those Who Didn't Beat the Game)

Well, Shuyin then. Let's talk about him. As we know, the Shuyin we all saw most of the time in the game wasn't the real Shuyin. As the fayth said, he's "Only a shadow. The real Shuyin died long ago." And if you did the Crimson Squad sidequest, then you know his consciousness was trapped in that Den of Woe, where he ended up reliving the same painful moment of his and Lennes' death over and over until finally the Crimson Squadders came there and he took possession of Nooj.

I don't think Shuyin was really a bad guy. The original Shuyin was a good friend and lover to Lenne, who just couldn't accept the fact that he might lose her. Angered with the arrogance of his enemies, he tried to take control of Vegnagun, but Lenne showed up and said something to him, causing him to come down and them to reunite. By then, it was too late: the firing squad had showed up and they killed them both. Then, somehow, Shuyin's consciousness got trapped in the Den of Woe and went mad, while Lenne's was either trapped in the Songstress dressphere, or ported to it and some point. When YRP defeated Vegnagun, Shuyin was defeated and desparate, but Yuna changed to the Songstress dressphere and he saw Lenne. But something went wrong and he was able to see through to Yuna. Enraged, he went into last-ditch mode, fighting your characters and pulling out corrupt versions of Tidus's four overdrives: Spiral Cut, Slice and Dice, Energy Rain and Blitz Ace. Finally defeated, he didn't know what to do, but then Lenne's consciousness separated from Yuna and she reassured the troubled Shuyin that he would be okay, telling him that she had a new song ("1000 Words.")

So what about the resemblance between the apperance of Lenne and Shuyin. Maechen sort of hinted at it, but he never offered a real answer.

I managed never to talk to Maechen in the game *looks around semi-proudly*

Alright, but Shuyin, I think, is a 'poor fool', and a terribly unlucky one. His and Lenne's is a sad story which always moves me to tears. I wish they'd been able to live happily. :(

I don't think Shuyin was a bad guy either, he was simply driven the way he was because he felt he would do anything for Lenne. I thought it was sweet, but it was also very sad. You never know what people in love will do until their torn apart.

question please ... how can you possibly attack a shadow .... ??!!!

Hmm, how can you attack a shadow? I guess you've never played Kingdom Hearts.

But really though, it's a metaphor. He's not literally a shadow, but the Shuyin that we're seeing is only a pale shell of the original Shuyin. A dark image created from the consciousness that was forced to relive the images of his and his lover's deaths over and over again.

one thing remained unanswered in the game? Why does Tidus look so much like Shuyin? Why?Even their voices is about the same? Why?They even wore the same thing(almost actually),And the hairstyle? I have a theory though .shuyin is a popular blitzball player right? So , one of the fayth probably use him as a template to create(or dream to be exact) Tidus.Am i right??

That's something I'm still confused about too. If Tidus was only a dream of the Fayth and never had a real existence, then was Jecht only a dream of the Fayth too?

You're right that Maechen never really explained it. He said the fact they look so much alike cannot be mere coincidence, but he never really went into detail.

About Tidus and Shuyin...James Arnold Taylor played the voices of both of them. That's why they sound practically the same.

in ffx didnt they say that the fayth dreamed up people and based their looks on people in the past? cuz Tidus saw his mom in the farplane, but it wasnt really his mom. It was the person the fayth based her upon. So I think that Tidus was based off of Shuyin. And then Jecht falls in the same category as a dream i think.....

Shuyin and Lenne's story is sad... too sad... and i agree that Shuyin was never really a bad guy.
