Another thought has crashed into my twisted mind. What about when you die/KOed in battle in the FFXI? Do you die? Or can you be revived in battles.....or out of battles....or like in FFX have 1 HP after the battles over and have to heal.....what do you guys think they will do?

I've never played Everquest but they will probably do it that way.

The battles can't work like you get rezzed w/ 1hp after a battle, because there is no specific time a battle starts or ends...you wont have random encounters on this game, its just like EQ where you run up to it and attack it, so the 1hp thingy is pretty much ruled out

Well that was stupid of me, I knew that you din't go into a battle sequence but din't think of it when I posted.....anyway I wonder what they will do then? I got it, perhaps when you go down to 0 HP you have the choice to excape or to stay and if you choose to escape no AP or gil but you live with 1 HP and if you choose to stay and fight you may kill the creature before it gets one last hit on you and finishes you off....sound good?:confused:

I think they send all dead people to like a temple or somethin and you start there losing all your inventory and junk. That would suck, I actually have no clue since I have no MMORPG exp.

If its like most MMORPGs, it will be the corpse retreival thingy, where you are sent back to your hometown when u die, and have to run back to your corpse to get all your equipment back.

I don't like the idea of a corpse being locked, but I also don't like the idea of losing everything. How about if another player kills you they get to take their choice of one piece of equipment off of your dead body. And if other players wander upon you they get to take one piece of equipment off of your body thats around the same power as the level that they are at. It would also be neat to be able to put enchantments on your equipment to prevent these people from taking your stuff should you die

The enchantment part is a sweet idea! THat would be awesome! When i said the corpses are locked, thats only if a monster kills you.

Then theres not really any reason not to go after the biggest monster, except for the fact you get killed. If your corpses were locked I would go after that big dragon at lvl 1. They have to take something so you dont try to get yourself killed. Plus if there is PKing they should be able to take some of your junk.

Also like the enchantment thing.

Yes, but of course but you would have no chance of winning, and they could make you lose XP or JP(job points), and if you went after a big dragon, chances are there will be other high lvl grunts around it.

For one I'm making an example. For two I would try it just to see how it looked and if I was with lvl 99 guys.

I think that when you get to a certain HP level you should be able to escape, just like what would happen in real life. Also, if you do die, there should be some way to get your stuff back, maybe to pray in a temple, OR the corpse idea would be good, but other people should get to pillage it, it would be more real that way, also it would give you some initiative to get to your corpse quick.

I would do it sorta like diablo 2, if you get Pked, you have the option to let the person who killed you loot your body, but you also have the option to not let them . Or when you get killed by a monster you re-appear in the nearest town with your body next to you.

Well, this my idea,we will have to make some team each person, then if someone dies, the other ppl can help him by using Life magic or phoenix down.I hope My idea can be truly accepted in FFXI.

This idea, only work if Life magic and phoenix down really exist in FFXI, also it can be used by other ppl to help their friend.I Hope;)

That would really suck tho. Imagine having the best weapon in the game and some dipstick teamate steals your sword and you have to do it again. It's those kinda things that make me smoke out the ears, eh? Then again, I'm probably too much of a careful gameplayer too, but that has nothing to do with it.....well....maybe a little.....

When you die i battle, if you're with teammates your body stays there until the end of battle, at the end your body dissapears and you return to your last "Home Point" or what ever they call it. I'd Imagine your teammates to have the option to revive you in battle, since there is a spell called "Raise" that the White mage(lvl 25) and Red mage(lvl 50) can cast. So I have my bets on Revival being an option during a battle.

I would like for there to be a ressurrection system like that of Ultima Onlines. If you die, you are immediately afraid of if someone will take your equipment. However, any player with the appropriate skills can ress you. They should be able to cast Life, Life2, Pheonix Down Etc. If you do not get to your corpse in lets say... 7 minutes, it will be lootable by others. However this would only be a good idea if Equipment was easily obtainable. If it was like, do a quest and defeat the Dark Shogun and obtain his genji armor, I would much rather have a locked corpse system. An interesting spell that a White mage should have, is Auto-life. Or you could obtain a ring that has 1 charge of autolife, and to replenish it after use would require something like 10K gold.

I doubt they'll make a death system like UO's. I'm sure they're going to have all kinds of neat items, like the Rainbow Sword in Chrono trigger, or the Legend in FF6, or what ever. I'm thinking it will be more on the line of a Ragnarok type death system. you die, you respawn. Cept if you're in a party in FFXI, you die, your party continues to fight, your body stays till the end, they have the choice to revive you or just win with out you, then when the battle is over your body dissapears and you appear at your home point.

I've heard many bad things about Everquest corpse retrieval impossible because of so many hard monsters around the corpse.

I like the idea in Anarchy Online, where you can "save" at a spot in town and when you die, all your equipment comes back to a reclaim terminal.

Not sure how this could fit in FFXI terms but the idea is sound imo.
